Spring 2007 - Community Newsletter
DiscussFitness.com Quarterly Newsletter
Welcome fellow members, to the inaugural issue of the Discuss Fitness Newsletter. I am in complete awe of the energy extended by the members, moderators, and administrators of DF to bring this newsletter to publication. Through this effort our members have another vehicle to take center stage in order to share their knowledge, skills, and hard work with others. We will be publishing this newsletter quarterly, and if the response from the membership is on the positive side we would like to increase the number of issues published each year. Member Spotlight
Welcome to the Member Spotlight section of the DiscussFitness members-only newsletter. In this premier issue, we are spotlighting DiscussFitness members Lady C, Dan C and SarahPT. Grab a chair and get comfortable and enjoy what these superfit members have to share about themselves.
Introducing Lady C
Lady C lives in Southern California but grew up in Utah where most of her family still lives. She came from a large family and was 3rd in a family of 7 children. She has two children and one grandchild. She describes herself as quite a tomboy growing up and did lots of active things with her younger brother. Click here to read the whole interview.
Introducing Dan C
Dan C describes himself as a drug-free lifter who competes in various strength sports (Strongman, Highland Games & Grip Competitions so far, with Weightlifting, Powerlifting and possibly Girevoy Sport in the future). He has a degree in exercise science, and is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist and Russian Kettlebell Instructor. Click here to read the whole interview.
Introducing SarahPT
SarahPT tells us that she is 29 years old, married, and lives in rural western Maine. Her education includes a degree in mental health and certifications as a personal trainer and sports nutritionist. She is self employed and owns a small exercise studio where she trains people and does nutrition consulting, including online training and nutrition consulting. No More Excuses: The Sandbag Solution
So what are the biggest excuses for not wanting to start working out? Come on, you know you’ve heard them all; you’ve probably even used a few yourself. Click here to read the whole article.
Quick Adjustable Sandbag Construction
Here’s how to make your own adjustable, durable, and mess-free sandbag. The basic idea is that you will create “filler” bags that will be of varying weights, and these filler bags will then be placed in the larger, tougher outer bag. Click here to read the How To guide.
Member Submitted Recipes
With all the hard work put into the training it’s very important that we also EAT! This issues featured recipes were submitted by DF member Brat. Two great recipes are featured: Diabetic Bran Muffins and Protein Packed Pancakes. Bon Appetite! Click here to read the recipes.
