1 body part a day workout

I work out 5 days a week, and after I do my 20-30min of cardio I usually do about 10 different exercises on either back, chest, tri's, shoulders, bi's, or legs. I tried to do more then one body part a day but I cant seem to get it all in with the time allowed. I am not seeing much. I am a big fella 6ft 1 260....and I have poor posture....should I go to a more comprehensive workout like a full body workout 4 days a week ?? I certainly do appreciate feedback. I have used www.bodybuilding.com to find exercises and new ways of hitting muscles and even did a 1 week (high reps) then a 1 week (heavy) workout....I have only been active doing this for about 8 weeks...I know patience, patience...but any feedback would be great...esp about my poor posture, my shoulders slump really bad even though my delts are starting to get definition....thanks!!!

Go to a 3 day split, tris w/ chest and shoulders, bis w/ back, then legs and abs. You do not need 10 exercises for each body part, assuming your doing 3 sets probably 3 exercises for most body parts and 2 for tris and bis.

What is it you're looking for and why are you targeting this goal? Is it to drop bodyfat or gain muscle. Are you a strength athlete? Are you looking for just improved health or is it aesthetics you're after? And probably most important for losing bodyfat you must address your diet. The workout is a necessary evil but is secondary to diet for fat loss.
These are a few questions you should look to answer.
As far as a single body part per day, I think you can do just fine.
If it were me, I'd do my cardio after my weight training it does help with fat loss. Glycogen stores are depleted so you can tap into fat stores almost immediately.
I'll keep looking at this thread to see if I can help.

That's probably because you try to do too much. Get down to the bare essentials, nothing more. (If you do more than 2 exercises for arms, and that means biceps and triceps, then you're doing too much for a beginner). Stick to the money exercises: squats, deadlifts, chins, bench press, military press, and if you can add the Olympic variations once you feel that you're "in the groove".

thanks...I am looking to lose weight, and tone/shape muscles. I enjoy going to the gym and always look for alot of different exercises to keep it fresh. I like the idea of doing cardio after I lift...I will try my best to maybe do less exercises I just dont feel like I get quite the burn...do I need todo more sets...more reps ??? Thanks

im working on a 3-day split myself: chest/tri's, back/bi's, legs/shoulders. all heavy sets minus the high rep bull**** unless its a warm-up set.

since you are trying to lose weight, diet and cardio are undoubtedly going to be the most important part of your regime, not the workout. stick to a clean diet and cardio schedule. if its absolutely necessary that you do cardio on workout days, i agree that you do them after your workout, but other than that, try to fit them in your off-days. search into something called "guerrila cardio". many posters here will agree with me when i say it works wonders. also if you're looking into supplements to make it happen faster, consider good ol' fashion ephedra. but post around about it because it may cause adverse health problems to those unexperienced with it. good luck!
