9 weeks to wedding

Will be getting married May 27...have been doing cardio and moderate weights for fitness only. What would some of you experienced people do to maximize this period of time in order to look fit and tone for the honeymoon. I have a good handle on diet requirements, timing, etc, but what would you concentrate on? I don't expect miracles but would like to make the absolute most of the time. Suggestions? (BTW, 6', 184 lbs., 35 yrs old)

Wow, we have a lot of similarities! I'm getting married May 28th, I'm 6' and weigh 186 pounds. I'm also in the process of shaving off some fat before the honeymoon. I'd tell you to check out my journal, but I'm kinda experimenting now so its probably not the best example. Though my diet ideas seem to be working. What does your typical day of eating look like? What weight training and cardio do you do and how often?

First, try Guerilla Cardio to maximize you time in doing cardio.

Next, don't use moderate weights. Use a weight that challenges you and your muscles. You want it to be difficult to get 10 reps out of a weight. Then add more weight when you finally get those reps!

Going to the gym requires effort while you are there. Mike Mentzer used to say you can workout long, or you can workout hard, but you can't do both. Those are words of wisdom to live by in the gym - so do yourself a favor and workout hard!

This may sound hard core but pushing your limits is the best way to make the physical changes you are looking for.

By the time your wedding rolls around you will have made some changes to your physique.

And by the way -- welcome to the board and good luck (to the weight loss and the wedding).

I'll just say hello and make the comment that I thought women were obsessive about getting in shape for the wedding/honeymoon!

Why not make it a lifelong goal?

Ditto. Do this 3x per week.

And if you picked a heavy enough weight that you only got 8 reps that is even better.

Diet is EXTREMELY important. How many meals are you eating per day and what is in those meals?

Note that you can read the Guerilla Cardio article on this site (sans the pics). Also, make sure that you read the Clarence Bass article that immediately follows.
