Abdominal Tightening

Whenever I isometrically tighten my gut, I only feel that there's tight muslce in the front of the abdominals and I can still see that my obliques are still flabby, is this because of the excess fat that's lying on the love handles?

You sure that diet is the only way to eliminate the fat in the lovehandles progressively?

One thing you might consider is that your obliques aren't that well developed. Are you doing any kind of twisting crunches or side lifts? If not you might not be working them very hard. That said, obliques only show up when you have relatively low bodyfat so the simplest way to get the to show up (although it's not easy) is to lower your bodyfat. Do that by adopting a good diet and increasing your cardio.

If your abs are flabby then you need to lose some fat

It's just that around my abdomen, I tend to see quite a bit of stretch marks there and thought that I've scarred the ab area.
