Advice for a beginner?!?

Hey, this is me first post, but have been reading these boards for a little while.

Anyway, was wondering if anyone can offer any advice. Im 5"8 and weigh approx 10st/140lbs.

At the moment my routine looks a little like this.

Day1:
Chest Press 3x6-8
Chest Fly 3x6-8
Pull Over 3x6-8

Day2:
Shoulder Press 3x6-8
Lateral Raise 3x6-8
Upright Row 3x6-8
Bent Over Row 3x6-8

Day3: Off

Day4:
Close-leg Squat 3x6-8
Wide-leg Squat 3x6-8
Static Lunges 3x6-8
Also go to gym to do cardio and other various weights

Day5:
Bicep Curl 3x6-8
Hammer Curl 3x6-8
Single Arm Tricep Extensions 3x6-8
Side Bends 2x6-8
Ab Curls

I cant seem to get my diet into a good rythem but at them moment is something like this:

Breakfast: cerial, banana, apple, yoghurt
Dinner: Tuna & Sweetcorn sandwich
Snack: Fruit & Nuts
Dinner: Varies but usually something like, Chicken & veg curry, chicken pie, potatoes/veg/chicken, sausage & mash, Tuna Steak

I haven recently been considering getting some Whey protein next time i get paid (bit short of cash recently, being a student and all). Any ideas as i dont seem to be making any gains yet im increasing size of weights all the time.

looks to me like your diet is on the short side, which would explain why you're not gaining size.

I agree with the diet being your hinderance point. I would also add another back exercise like db rows or lat pulldown on day 2 and another tricep exercise like skullcrushers (french press) or pushdowns on Day 5. It's definately diet related though, as far as growing.

Your diet is okay, seriously.

My diet i woudlnt even say compares to that, i just make sure i eat foods with proteins i dont supplement protein with whey protein or anything.

I was like you, in my 1st year of training, increasing the size of weights yet my body looked the same size, it took me just strict determination to keep lifting and you will get there, try for about 2-3months to not really notice how your muscles are developing, just aslong as your lifting the heavy weights with "STRICT" form.

I went from 72KG (160lbs) to 91KG (201lbs) (of Muscle mass) in just under two years of consistent training all while maintaining my 10-12% bodyfat, so i beg to differ with those that think protein and the perfect diet is a must.

You can see the body i have without taking protein (ive only ever cycled creatine once, but it did nothing for me...) just have to be persistent.

just keep at it bro and train hard dont overtrain, and you will get there .

Hey, good to see another Yorkshire lad! :

You don't necessarily need whey protein. I would recommend getting in a chicken breast after the workout, though.
