AHHOERIOREIOJRIO Two Questions

1) I've been training on and off for the past 2 months or so, and I'm an ectomorph (6 feet, 160 pounds) and i've been eating pretty clean. Now I've seen Max-OT and i'm interested in doing that but my biggest priority is safety and long-term fitness and not the short-term results that Max-OT may deliver. That said, my biggest concerns are connective tissues, ligaments, and tendons and how fast they can tolerate muscle growth/heavy weights. I don't want to end my workouts prematurely because i may get tendinitus or some knee injury, and I'd rather take thigns slowly than jump in like crazy.

How do you ensure that your ligaments/connective tissue/cartilage/tendons/etc are safe [even ify ou do warmups] and can handle the heavy loads in a program such as MaxOT

2) I love the Guerrilla Cardio/Tabata protocol that I do for running (because it increases my sprinting speed and i love it), but someone stole my runinng shoes (i don't know why i have size 13 feet) when i left them to dry in the laundry room. I won't be able to get shoes when my college semester ends, so can I or should I do tabata in the water? I love the sprinting aspects and cardiovascular aspects of this HIIT program but I don't nkow if i sould be doing it at all especially when i am an ectomorph with high meabolism

Okay, A - what the hell is AHHOERIOREIOJRIO?

B - Your connective tissues will grow and adapt under strain just like your muscles will, but not as quickly. It is possible to injure them if you try to go too far, too fast. Best bet is probably to go into a deloading phase every 4 weeks or so to give them a rest. Other members will probably have more specific information about this.

C - Is it easy for you to find good shoes? I suspect that stores don't stock too many size 13 running shoes. Your theif probably has the same problem you do.
You can do Tabata intervals with any exercise you can think of. The only requirement is that you go all out for the 20 second work period. I think that swimming would be difficult because of the problem of watching a clock. You could try jumping rope, squats, or box jumps.

Look for someone else wearing waterskis. See if they are yours. Kick his butt and take them back.

Tim's option B was a good idea. Another thing is simply not to push it as far as you can. Max OT is a nice format for working out. Follow it but increase the weights more slowly. Work your way gradually through the 4-6 rep range - totally owning a weight before increasing reps...totally owning it before increasing weight. I was pushing too far, too fast for an old guy while I was doing it and when I intentionally slowed the progress down I still gained, just slowly. Then suddenly when my body was ready - they took off much faster than I'd hoped for. I had to change because I was overtraining with multiple workouts each day between max ot, conditioning exercises, and intense cardio training. If all you are doing is max ot - then you should be OK with slower controlled growth, just take your time and don't push it. I know that isn't exactly the philosophy of max ot, but it's your workout, your body, use the format but make it work safely for you.
