well only way your gonna get Gerard Butler abs is to put on some serious mass... if you are very lean then the best you can do is flatten them babies out and make visible...

Best things for your abs are squats deadlifts, then behind those, some Decline situps. I know you workout at home, so you might not have access to a decline seat for situps. picture hanging from monkey bars by your the back of your knees (PCLs) and doing a situp, that in my opinion is very good. and planks everyone here is big fan of the plank

Also weights, do all ab work with weights... I do my declines (when I do them) with 25 lb. plate... not much weight but its some!

You may not be lean enough.

Do you drink alcohol?

Do you eat a lot of carbs?

Do you do HIIT cardio?

Do you do heavy weight ab workouts?

What do you FEEL when you feel your abs? Do they feel like you want them to look but there's fat on them? Diet & cardio. If you can barely feel them, despite how lean you think you may be, you need heavy ab work to bulk the muscles up, just like every other muscle.

even non trainers that are lean show abs, so you are either not as lean as you think or yr abs need serious work.
I like weighted sit ups, crunchies, leg raise and cable pulls on knees pulling to the hip very hard hitting motion
