No fat does not turn in to muscle just as lead cannot be turned in to gold. However, your body needs fat for breaking down certain vitimams. But that is two fold your body needs lot of water to use fat for different processes.

Fat is essential for some body processes. Eating too low of dietary fat will cause a host of issues like dry skin and brittle hair. Eating fat does not make you fat. Eating excess calories regardless of the source will make you fat.

To gain lean muscle you must eat enough to support muscle building which sometimes does go hand in hand with gaining some fat as well. Eating too little and you won't build muscle.

by fat, i would assume they mean Mono and Poly unsaturated fats. Saturated fats from my understanding are ok in moderation, and im thinking transfat are the only ones to be avoided. this is typically your processed food garbage

You may have heard that phrase, "Convert that fat to muscle". That is a fallacy. You have to lose the fat separately. I think people got that phrase from seeing someone put muscle on and/or look bigger after leaning out, so it gave the impression that said person actually converted the fat to muscle. It's a common phrase that really doesn't mean what it says.

Max I think this theory comes from people getting used to eating more to build muscles and to support an active lifestyle. Then, they don't cut back on the food when they start turning into couch potatoes, so they get fat and think their muscles have somehow turned into fat.

But then you can't whine about how fat you are, and have your buddies (who are, according to recent studies, the same size and shape you are) tell you that's OK, you aren't THAT big. And then you can go to Coldstone Creamery and celebrate!

Mmm.....coldstone
