good PT workout, everyone try this

I met a guy at work yesterday. I was talking to him about working out since he was wearing an "elite florida fitness" shirt and he looked to be in absolutely awesome shape. He asked about me being in the military (since I have a navy lanyard for my keys) and I told him I'm a Navy DEP that ships in a little over 40 days. He told me he is a personal trainer now but he used to be a search and rescue diver. He told me to try lifting a little less weight, for a higher rep amount, with only 15-20 seconds rest between sets. So I tried this out yesterday, doing 5 sets. I did the workout structure that Andre A does since it gives me more lift time per muscle each week. I'd have to say, after 2 workout sessions, I'm loving it. After the first 2 sets it gets hard to do more than 10, if I even reach that many. This is the first time I've ever been dead 2 hours after a workout. I get that pumped feeling most ametuers associate with a successful workout. Thats not the reason I feel its working though. Before, doing the heavy sets with minimal reps, I felt fine after about 30 minutes after working out. With this new workout, my arms are dead the entire day until I wake up the next morning, when theyre still kinda dead. Not really sore, just extremely week, where it gets hard to pick sh*t up and stuff. Usually when this happens after working out, I can advance the next week.
