Heart Rates

I Have trouble raising my heart rate above 130bpm during intense cardio, I think I read somewhere (not exactly sure of the wording) that your body burns more fat above 130bpm, or something along those lines.

What can I do to raise my Heart Rate above 130bpm? I've been mixing some sprints into my jogging which takes it out of me, also I've tryed sprinting on it's own till I cant go anymore but nothing seems to work, Could there be something wrong with me?

I took my resting heart rate this morning and I was shocked to see it was only 45bpm, 2weeks ago it was 60-65bpm.

Whats a healthy resting H.R?

Any help is appreciated
Cheers

Brad

Hi Konartis, good question, I've pretty much got the same problem.
My HR monitor has a range of 40 - 200 bpm and at rest I'm off the lower scale. (I was going to send my HR monitor back 'cos I thought it wasn't working!!)

Recently my doctor read my pulse and made it 38bpm at rest, and whilst doing sprints the highest it would go was 90 bpm.
My doctor said that I'm fit and have a large, efficient heart, which what Fudo had previously stated.

My question is, do I still use the standard bpm zones or will I need to change thses in accordance to my HR? I can't understand using the same standard bpm zones as we are all different, with hearts of differing efficiancies, so I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to do!

Your anaerobic threshold is about 70% of your max. Your max is just lower than most people, which is great. A resting heart rate of < 40 is crazy. Seems theres about 3 people on the board with super low heart rates.
