alright im 14 years old and i weigh around 85 to 90 pounds. I know i'm not fat, in fact i guess you could say that im skinny, well my legs and arms are. my stomach is a whole different story. i've always wanted a nice flat stomach its pretty flabby, but whenever i say "ok im gonna start to do this and im gonna do that" i never EVER do it. i can never keep the motivation. i dont know what to do. i want to build up better arms and leg muscles, lose the extra fat on my tummy and see my abs, and i want to build my muscles on my behind so that maybe ill actually HAVE a butt. pretty much i want to tone my whole body. i need to start eating right also. i dont know how to go about doing any this and keep the motivation as well. someone PLEASE lead the way, i want this SO BAD!!!

Ahhh a person who has the exact same problem as me, man I think you are like my twin..lol.
One diffrence though the age is right, but I'm 117, 5'7-5'10, so the height makes me seem skinny. But I got the same motivation problem as you..
I don't know what advice I can give you, but from my experinces, just keep on doing workouts. And just set your mind to it. It is also proven that if you keep the same routine of something , say for example bruhsing your teeth :P, for 21 days, it will become a habit. though you shouldn't work out for 21 days!!
But after you have worked for a month lets say, 3-4 times a week, you'll start finding it easier to work out. That's what I did. At first for me it was I was too weak to lift theweights lol.. I started out with 5lbs, 2 years ago, than 7.7 lbs, and than 10lbs, and just now I moved to 17lbs, which I can only do 7 reps per arm.. ..anyways you get th epoint

Thanks for the help, its good to hear that theres people out there going through the same things as me. But the thing is, I dont know what i need to do. i need total specifics or else ill just go about doing everything wrong and make myself even fatter i seriously don't know HOW to do anything. i know somewhat the types of foods im supposed to eat, but its hard to eat them because i have the kind of family where the parents cook the dinner and we have no control. I dont know what do to while excercising also. I ran a mile yesterday for PE but other than that class i get no physical activity. Running isn't so bad and i'd like to build up my stamina but i dont like to run because i look like a doofus when i run and i dont't want n e one to see me and i can't get past that. so i dont know what to do. i have weights collecting dust in my closet, i used them once..... i think.... someone help my confuses little mind!!

You see my problem is my height.. I keep growing , I think that has something to do with my mass. I mean I keep eating , and I keep growing taller, if i'd stop for a year or so , and eat at the rate I'm eating.. than I"d grow larger for sure.
Also I only eat homebaked food, never fries and stuff like that, since my background is romanian. So I'm not eating really fat foods. Maybe that has something to do with it.. too .

Now at 85 to 90 pounds you'd think you'd be wanting to gain weight and build mass but in reality you're asking to lose weight around your stomach. Now I'm not here to tell you your goals, and I'm not here to judge you because everyone has been at that 85 to 90 pound range at one time in their life (some obviously longer than others).
We need to know a few things about you first such as:
- height
- diet
- workout routine (if you have one).
- goals
You say you want to lose weight in your stomach but gain weight in the form of a butt. Then you go ahead and say you want to tone your whole body. Toning by definition is the act of losing fat but retaining muscle. IMO you should be gaining some weight and bulking up. Then you can tone your body by cutting away the fat. Just let us know your current stats and we'll do our best to help you!

Oh..well I was asking the same question, here is a workout another member gave me, it'shelping me already I can feel my muscles getting worked out, though it's only for upper body. The site is here:
http://www.thetrainingstationinc.com/db-exercises.html
It's more for free weights though. Also I'm pretty sure than chin-ups is the most effective workout for your upper body if you don't have weights. Just go to a park at night if you don't want anyone seeing you..lol..with a flashlight.. haha..
Oh for your legs.. if you don't want to run , I think you have stairs in your house. Just run the stairs, hop the stairs, one leg hops and two leg hope, tuck jumps ( jump as high as you can bringing your things up to reach your hands whcih are extended in front of you ) , and calf raises, and one legged calf raises.
I was reading one day, and it said if you have 15 stairs and you do 10 one legged calf raises, with each leg on each stair, by the time you get to the top you won't be able to walk the next day!!
( i can't do it though..my legs are too weak )

I guess I'll post my info as well it wouldn't hurt since we're going through the same problem:
- height = 5'7-5'10, around there
- diet = well I try to stick to eating.. eggs in the morning every day, since I'm in school I can't eat snacks and my lunches are never sufficent for me, since they're for school , not a feast. So even with two sanndwhiches, I'm never full.. than I go home and I eat whatever I can find..and than when my parents come home, (5pm) I eat supper, than a little snack of some fruits before I go to bed (10pm)
- workout routine (if you have one).=the link on the other page, I do everyting there. 10 reps, one set at the moment. Since it's a little hard. FOr me.. since I just began.
- goals= two sets of my current workout, gain muscle and mass on my upper body the most. As well as my lower body.

Alrighty then fellas... here's the scoop, if you're looking to gain mass there are some things you should know...
#1. Stay constant. Don't skip out on a weightlifting session because you're tired. Maybe you won't do as many exercises as you would when you have energy, but at least give your muscles to go off of. Also, don't skip out on the calories. You may feel full but you can consume a lot more than you think your body can. Get into a routine!
#2. Heavy weights, low reps. Instead of benching 135 ten times, bench 150 4-6 times. Doing 4-6 reps for your exercises will help you gain muscle mass compared to higher repitions.
#3. Keep the sets low. Some people go into the weightlifting room and do 9 exercises for their back alone, with 3 sets per workout. That's a total of 27 working sets for just the back. You should only do 6-9 sets per body part. The main body parts are: Chest, Back, Shoulders, Legs, Triceps, Biceps (forearms, traps, and abs are some of the more minor, but still very important body parts).
#4. Don't be scared to use supplements. Not using supplements because you think they won't help you is asinine, and yet many people think this. After training for a month or two you should look into supplements like whey protein, creatine, and glutamine. Creatine can give gains up to 30 pounds, most people get something like 10-20 pounds from it. It can signifigantly increase your strength as well. Protein and glutamine give your muscles the "food" to grow. To gain weight you should take your body weight in pounds and take that much in grams of protein. For example, if you weight 120 pounds, take 120 grams of protein.
#5. Eat. Eat. Eat. Eat. Eat some more! Increase your calorie consumption to around 3000-4000 calories (less if you don't do any cardio). Basically you want to consume more calories than you burn (the key to gaining weight right there).
There you have it, if you need help with a routine, just ask and the we'll be happy to help!

a word of warning... at 14 years old it is unlikely that your body has finished growing...
excessive weight workouts could stunt the growth of your bones by adversely effecting your growth plates (i'm mainly talking about heavy weight/high intensity training).... thats not to say that you can't strength train.... generally resistance exercises using your own body weight only are recommended when starting
it depends very much on your physical maturity and exercise history as well
it is generally recommended that strength training for adolescents/children be supervised and be programmed by a professional
regardless a youth should not be doing the same workouts/intensity as an adult

Well, I don't workout like a crazy man. I just have like 17lbs per arm. Anyways just a question, my gym teacher said that there was no study to prove that working out stunts your growth.. is he right?

Tom I have some questions about your post.
First: Well you said that after working out , for like a month you should start looking into supplements, is there an actual reason for that? or can anyone who hasn't been working out , but wants to start, can he start using supplements, as soon as you start working out?
Second: I know what protein does, but I have no idea what creatine is , can you give me desciption of what it is and what it does, and what brands should I buy, since I'm not a expert in supplements, I know some can be harmful, so if you know a safe brand can you please post, + the price.
Third: Is there a supplement that can actually give you more energy so you can workout? If there is , post brand safest, and price.
