Help with Toning Up

Hi all, I am new to this forum and would appreciate any help please. My problem is stomach fat. I have been trying to get rid of it so i can have a six pack but it just isnt going. I work out by weight training and do jogging, I also eat healthy. What can I do to get rid of it as I would like a six pack. By the way I am fairly skinny every where apart from the stomach. Please help thanks

What are you going to do with that 6-pack once you get it?

When you say tone up, what you really mean is muscle up. I'll let some of the others here chime in and suggest a basic muscle-building training program for you.

Regarding getting that 6-pack - remember that abs are made in the kitchen so eat clean and eat less. You say you are eating healthy but how much?

Here are some of my thoughts: http://pierini-fitness.blogspot.com/...n-kitchen.html

ah well my friend you sound skinny fat ^_^ lol
to help you the guys& girls need info my friend. so im just going to list some questions for you.

in order to know if you are eating healthy, we need to know what calories you take in every day, how much protein , carbs, fat and what kinds of fat you think your taking in the most. and what is your maintence level and weight right now ? got any measurement ?

then we need to know what days you working out, and what your over all goals are ( ie not just a six pack but maybe a weight catigory or bf% too ? or are you an athlete?)

what does your routines look like? how much you lifting and how many times you lifting it ?
how far are you running ?
where do you train ? ( i.e college? or fitness center or like a golds? ) your environment can make things harder or easier depending on what gym you go too... I mean if you go some where they give pizza every day it wont help ya so much lol.
have you looked at p90x
cross fit
5x5 ( which is this forums favorite if im not missing my guess.)

hope this gives a good base.
also Ive had an 8 pack before, and i can tell you unless you hold a 6 pack with out caring its an every day battle to keep it. just like for me bulking is an every day battle to keep it up. lol or i get skinny FAST lol.

REMEMBER that every one is dfferent and needs a slightly different diet set up and work out to get to the top. no real magic pills.

hi thanks for taking the time to reply ... Yeah I would love a six pack. But when people muscle up, dont they put on fat which is my fear. I have lost alot fat about a year ago and wouldnt like to see it return. I dont eat any sweets so like chocolates etc . I have 3 meals a day, no fast food etc. drink lots of water and im currently following a workout plan that incorporates cardio and resistance training.

okay you need to g raise thats for sure 6 meals a day, littler portions. your body gets hungry ever 2-2 1/2 hours.
you need to know all the details a six pack for some one who doesnt have the easy gene for it need to make it happen.
and healthy fat is fine, Im sub 10% with my six pack right now. and i take in more than you can think about comfortably 5,000 calories now.
so it really depends on you.
go ahead and upload your training log, and if you really want help get us your diet log too.

theres a guy on here that kicks my @ss right now with his six pack, his article is called a successful cutting cycle. real nice guy. check it out.

thanks for replying, all the information is excellent! Well basically I'm doing this regime at the minute: (Cant post the link) but its on build muscle and burn fat website under free workout plans on the left, and workout 2 to burn fat, and intermediate interval workout 1. for bench press I'm using about 28 kg( I know not much lol) and for bicep curls using around 12 kg, tricep press about 9 kg, shoulder press about 13 kg. Fairly light weights but I find it real hard when I up the weights. I dont know exactly what proportion of carbs, fat etc im eating. But would someone be kind enough to include a eating plan? I find it really hard to know what to eat and thats why probably I see no difference. Thanks

Try eating meat and salads at night with out any carbs. Eat carbs in the morning and lunch. The rest of the day eat more protein. This has shed fat off of my stomach. The diet is the most important part of getting ripped. It takes alot of time just to burn off 300-400 calories. You can eat that in one minute.

Thanks, would anyone recommend a keto diet? I have been reading up on this and it eliminates all carbs from the diet. It has said to decrease fat rapidly.

I have not personally tried it but believe it would be hard to sustain. I have recent experience with intermittent fasting and can attest that has definitely reduced my bodyfat.

You didn't mention any lower body exercises in your post. I am not familiar with the particular routine you are talking about but any good routine should definitely include lower body and should have little to no isolation work and mostly compound exercises.

Also, more specifics about your diet would help us help you more. Take us through a typical day, what you eat and when.

James,

As what I have suggested to some people who have the same dillema like you, increase your cardio. Any ab exercises wont solve it as long as you wont burn that fat on your stomach. Remember, you can’t see your abs through a layer of body fat.

Hi James, Abs will be the last muscle to define in the body as it is the 1st place your body will store fat.
To see abs real good you have to be plenty lean like 10% body fat 5% is real good, but you will have to blast the abs to come out and play
Try 100 sit ups
100 Leg raise
100 crunchies
50 side sit ups on both side
3x25 cable ab pulls

If this dont get abs out, you aint got none lol

Now, remember, body builders arent that strong actually. They want to look awesome, so they eat HORRIBLY to have like 3% body fat and make their veins pop out for competitions. Not good at all. That is professional body building though. The strongest men in the world are actually some pretty big guys with plenty of body fat on them so they're muscles arent very defined. It all depends on what you want. There are exercise techniques good for building muscles and those that are good for building strength (two different things,

Gotta call BS on this one. No, strength isn't the goal for a real bodybuilder, it's just a good result from building bigger muscles. Sure, most powerlifters are going to be stronger than most bodybuilders. I've heard more than one REAL bodybuilder say, "I don't give a shi*t how much I can bench, I'm a bodybuilder not a powerlifter" when that dumbassed inevitable question comes up. But to say they aren't that strong...complete fallicy. That's about as wrong as saying a powerlifter can't have a great physique. Ever seen Dave Tate "dieted down"? Now, I don't know any IFFBB pros but the NPC guys I know...are STRONG.

Personally I train for strength, but not to the point that I'd consider myself a powerlifter. My training is more akin to PLing that to BBing though...but it bugs the hell out of me to see someone saying bodybuilders aren't that strong. grrrrr.
