I have done it in the past and continued to make PRs, however I most certainly do not recomend it.

I currently do not drink or smoke and plan on keeping it that way for a while.

Some people can get away with it for a long time, some for only a minimal time, and some probably not at all.

What do you value more? Your body or getting high?

Man, getting faded isn't all that great. Just have some willpower to say no. I've done my share of substances, but it's not worth it. I've made the decision for myself to be better than those things. Think about it.

i have smoked weed thousands of times and i don't know that it has had any really negative effects on my body. however, i will say its a lot easier to stick to a regimine if you're not a stoner. doing drugs other than pot will most definitely create a serious problem. plus if you have a lot of stoner friends, they tend to not really care about their health. this is not always the best environment for fitness. anyway, i don't really smoke pot anymore and its better that way. i don't have to worry about police, if i am infact harming my body, and how i spend my money. if you want to smoke on teh occasion its no big deal but try not to make it a habit. its possible to be a great athlete and smoke pot... look at ricky williams. however, you will notice that most great athletes do NOT smoke. also.... smoking weed often leads to smoking cigarettes... those WILL hurt your progress.

The medical community has now come out and said that smoking cigarettes of any type (tobacco or marijuana) is harmful to your health. The smoke from both contain chemical compounds that lead to cancer, emphysema, heart disease, etc.

it doesn't kill brain cells. what it does is the thc attach to receptors in your brain that release seretonin. in other words smoking weed doesn't make you dumb. anyway i don't know of any people who have died of lung cancer who smoked weed and not cigarettes but hey if science says so its probably true.... it makes sense considering you're inhaling all that smoke and there is definitely a lot of tar. thats why you should smoke out of a vaporizor.... no smoke.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/q...=pubmed_docsum

Delta9-Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the main psychoactive ingredient of marijuana, induces apoptosis in cultured cortical neurons. THC exerts its apoptotic effects in cortical neurons by binding to the CB1 cannabinoid receptor.

Marijuana consumption elicits diverse physiological and psychological effects in humans, including memory loss. Here we report that Delta9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the major psychoactive component of marijuana, is toxic for hippocampal neurons

This study examined the immunoregulatory effects of anadamide, the recently identified first endogenous cannabinoid receptor ligand. Anadamide caused dose-dependent inhibition of mitogen-induced T and B lymphocyte proliferation.

A "joint" is as bad as a cigarette for lung cancer cyanide benzene CO nitrosene etc but due to the way people smoke it for maximum absorption of THC it can actually be 5 times worse.

oh you've got to be kidding me man. im not advocating weed and im not saying it does nothing to do you, i definitely agree it can be harmful, but it doesn't effect your brain THAT much... have you ever even done it? tons of people do it every day for years and years and they aren't turning into a bunch of vegetables.

thanks for the input everyone, and i really dont smoke that often, every now and then when friends want to, i was just wondering cause some nights when i go out i hate drinking if i feel its going to be another worthless college night. I agree though it is a bad habit to do to often and it defenitly hits the cash hard. i also heard from an upper class man here who is working on a study at my school on marajuana that if you take L-glutamine it can lessen the effects greatly that weed has on the brain.

Yes it does effect your brain that much It can effect your cognitive functioning as much as alcohol and can have similar effects on abilty to drive etc. An interesting note is that it takes 30 days to leave your system so just smoking once a month or more and it never leaves your body and thus the potential for build up. It has been proven to effect performance on simple mental tests such as arithmetic and memory.
