Home Gym recommendations

Hello all

I am looking for recommendations on a Home Gym. I will be likely doing Bill Pearl's Beginner and then Intermediate programs (over a 12 month period) and if anyone has some suggestions, please pass it along.

Thanks!

Bill

A cage (with a lat attachment if you can afford it)

Sturdy adjustable bench

Olympic weights

Adjustable dumbbells

My weight bench is from Impex. Im very happy with it. I have a leg extension attachment on the end of it, and its a very sturdy bench. I use olympic weights. DO NOT GET STANDARD WEIGHTS, those are for newbie beginners who want to train with olympic weights

To get started you could buy a set of adjustable dumbells, a swiss ball, and some rubber tubing. This will get a beginner started, if you are a little more advanced you may have to pick up some extra things. A site that you can find quality equipment is www.performbetter.com
Hope this helps,
Shane

dumbbells, a rubber ball and tubing, you've got to be kidding me, right? ok, not to be rude but I think he would be much better off with a barbell and some sort of rack so he can start off working with the 'core' excersizes, Bench, Deadlifts, Sqats, bent over bb rows, military presses, etc, etc....

I picked up this squat rack from Sam's club for just over 400. Comes with almost 300 lbs Olympic weights, bar, bench, etc.. I'm really happy with it, after having it for a few months. I'm very glad that I picked up a cage instead of a rack. It's just so much safer & easier for spotting purposes. The only major drawbacks are it's size (larger than a squat rack), and the dip station (gets in the way of squats, so I don't have it attached).

Here's some pix of the squat rack setup at home if you want to see it in a non-commercial photo.
