Hormone levels

Hey, I was wondering if it would help me out any to get my test levels checked out with a blood test to make sure it's high enough. I keep feeling like I'm doing all this hard work and eating right, but can't seem to put on any more muscle. would this help me out any so that I would know if I can kick it up more with something or would it just be a waste?

Low Testosterone Levels Quiz:

While a blood or saliva test is a more accurate way of establishing your levels of testosterone, you can also use The Saint Louis University Androgen Deficiency in Aging Men (ADAM) Questionnaire. Dr. John Morley, a researcher with the Saint Louis University School of Medicine, developed the self-screening tool to help identify symptoms of low testosterone in men. Choose the responses below that best describe how you have been feeling.

1. Do you have a decrease in libido (sex drive)?
2. Do you have a lack of energy?
3. Do you have a decrease in strength and/or endurance?
4. Have you lost height?
5. Have you noticed a decreased "enjoyment of life"?
6. Are you sad and/or grumpy?
7. Are your erections less strong?
8. Have you noticed a deterioration in your ability to play sports?
9. Are you falling asleep after dinner?
10. Has there been a recent deterioration in your work performance?

If you answer yes to question one or seven, or at least three of the other questions you may have low testosterone levels.

Aagh, and what about women, eh? What about tests for women?

And, so even if you've got low test, so then what? Would you opt for artificially augmenting your natural test levels by juicing or what? (Seriously?)

If I do have it I would want to do something about it naturally. Prob would ask the doc what he says before I try anything though.

9. Are you falling asleep after dinner?

???? WTF

Isn't that directly related to being insulin resistant.

A sneeze could indicate an oncoming cold or an allergy. Try to remember that these are general symptoms, not a guaranteed peg that you have low test levels. By answering yes to three or more questions give you a good indication that you should probably talk with your doctor about getting tested.

Merrida, I'm looking for more info for you. Here is what I've found so far about women and testosterone:

Testosterone in women, where production is about one-tenth the total of males, roughly one-half comes from the ovaries. The adrenal gland near the kidneys also produce test. Testosterone helps women maintain the strength of muscle and bone. After the menopause, testosterone levels drop. Estrogen replacement therapy can also reduce testosterone levels, leaving some postmenopausal women concerned about a lack of energy and libido.

Here are symptoms of low test in women:

Low energy/stamina
Impatient/hostile disposition (wow, I know lots of hostile women!)
Difficulty achieving orgasm
Vaginal itching
Low Sex Drive

Tribulus is very beneficial to women at increasing test levels, as is a higher at diet.

Ironman, thank's for the list. I fall into 8 of the ten over the last three months or so, and half of those are symptoms that I have been experiencing with the mood swings. Hopefully when my blood tests come back that will show up.
