How am I doing? weight is up..bodyfat down

I've been lifting now for about 12 weeks.

I am 6'0 and started at 175lbs with approx. 22% bodyfat.

I am now at 181lbs and 15% bodyfat.

I know gaining muscle and losing bodyfat is easier for newbies so I don't expect it to continue but it is nice to see results.

My training includes 3 day lifting....3 day cardio (45 minutes) each.

I've been eating very clean but I have not really been counting calories (yet).

Is my progress reasonable?

thanks,

Mattlock

Yes that is great progress. Do not focus on how long or short it is taking. Focus on the fact that you ARE making progress =)

Keep it up mate!

will do...thanks for the suggestion. It would not surprise me if I begin to plateau a little but I feel so much better I am thrilled with my progress.

I owe much of my success to the posters on this board.

it gets even better....

I forgot to mention...

My cholesterol dropped from 178 to 152 and my HDL (good) increased from 33 to 41. My ratio is finally under 4.0. and my triglyercides down from 109 to 66.

I attribute that to eating clean,...oatmeal 3x/day, walnuts and flaxseed oil in my morning shake....and weight training....

The diet is a major factor in HDL and LDL levels as well as a number of other factors (Triglycerides levels, etc..)

Keep that diet clean and your levels will remain good =)

When you plateau, you may have to cut back on your oatmeal. Three times a day may be too much. Try adding in some high fiber carbs instead of one of those oatmeal meals. If you don't know how much you are consuming you may start to go in the wrong direction, i.e. increased BF.

thanks Lady C. I'll keep an eye on that. 2 of the oatmeal meals are small anyway....meaning 1 packet (1/4 cup) at 10am and 3pm. (regular flavor with no added sugars...I use splenda to sweeten)
