How do you stay motivated?

I have been trying to motivate myself from working out, but lately i have been slack and putting it off. Because of this, i have gained some weight (Fat) back in the last few months.
I have changed to 3 different gyms over a few years which only motivates me when i first sign up.

It is only towards summer that i realise that i cant fit into my nice clothes again or when im hitting the clubs and see so many great bodies.

How do you all stay motivated and keep going?

I've never had a real problem with this. When I was having shoulder problems (some of which persist to this day) it was a bit of a pain in the ass to find replacement exercises but in the end that turned into a challenge more than a damper on motivation. My motivation is simply that I feel so much better when I get my dose of the iron. If I take a break it taks about 3-4 days before I start to itch for some training and after a week-and-a-hald I feel as if I'm going to fall apart. That's always been enough for me.

Seeing bigger and stronger guys always motivates me.

If I can keep adding weight to the bar, I have no trouble staying motivated. If my strength stalls...........I would say that finding a way around it motivates me even more (especially when it's successful).

Point is, you need to find what motivates YOU. Whether it's fitting into some clothes that are currently too small for you (or fitting into some that are currently too big ), general health (i.e. lowering cholesterol), or just looking good for the opposite sex.....................everyone will have different motivation. You need to find your own motivation, set your own goals, and then don't let anyone or anything get in your way from achieving them.

I heard of one guy who had pics of different celebrities on his fridgeof different atractiveness . He had a picture of himself he put it beside that celeb who look wise he thought he could attract and moved the picture up through them as he progressed until he reached his dream woman and aka his own ideal figure.
Not something id go for but it did sure motivate him everytime he went to that fridge.

If you workout for a sport think of this.

"If you're not working in the gym faithfuly then someother guy is and when you compete with him HE WILL BEAT YOU!"

We used this on my old Powerlifting team.

lol, oh pierini!

for some reason i get more motivated when i have good workouts and feel great. when my body feels small or soft my motivation decreases.

maxgain mentioned something about pictures of idea bodies. i do that too, if i am not feeling motivated for some reason i look at pictures of evangilline lilly or jessica biel and i am ready to go!

I manage to put an expensive top i had for a while on before heading out, looked in the mirror and it made me look fat! It showed the shape of my chest, gut and spare tyre

All night out, i had the motivation to wake up early the next day to work out.... the morning came, i slept in and didnt end up doing any exercise all day. I keep putting it off.

The way I stay motivated is, once I started if i stop then it all kinda goes to waste, and i'll feel VERY VERY guilty! so it just keeps me training nicely! hehe.. agree with Maxgain on the Evangeline Lilly pics.. hehe

  • The mirror.
  • Looking at other people's results.
  • Because of the effort put in before.
Now if only it worked.
