People can definitely gain 50 pounds about in 2 years doing everything exactly right. From what i have gathered if you do everything exactly right you can put on about 2 pounds of lean mass a month.

2 years = 24 months x2 = 48 pounds. I'm talkin extreme dedication down to the T but it can be done. ALso the bigger you get more in depth you gotta be.

Also if your going to say 50 pounds is more then 48....they probably rounded it down to 2 pounds to make it even it might be like 2.05 or something so thats where the two pounds are probably coming from

also u still have to have the right pieces to do it. Just like everyone has said some genetics, bodytype, diet . I will argue the genetics for a beginner. I believe genetics only hurt you when you reach your maximum potential. New lifters should not have any trouble putting on muscle regardless of there genetic heritage until they reach there genetic limit. This being said the diet and everything else must be in line. Otherwise these are limiting factors not the genetics.

I'm bringing up a subject that was already brought up briefly in another thread but,....for anyone who is familiar with Ryan Reynolds pre-Blade and during-Blade filming. He and J. Beil began working on their own (which I cannot confirm re: what they did or the quality or type of training on their own), and then formally, they worked with a trainer for 3 months. They were eating 6 meals a day along with protein supplementation (they used tryo-plex bars for one) and whole foods high in protein and complex carbs, every 2-3 hours. Their gym training included 60-75 minutes of comprehensive lifting and 45 minutes of cardio. In the same day, they both had additional training which included martial arts training (and they used multiple disciplines), stunt coordination (since they did MOST of their own work), Ryan did an additional hour of learning "street fighting," and J. Beil had an additional hour of bow training/archery with a juiced up compound bow.

None of this includes the obvious additional weapons training they did, which while not physical in the same sense, is still demanding.

They drastically altered their entire lifestyle for 3 months that I'm aware of with trainers. The stunt choreographer only had ONE month to work with them (that is not a lot of time) for their training (ie: physical). Ryan put on, (I have to double check this, I preface this up front), but around 15 pounds of muscle and dropped his body fat to roughly 4-5%. J. Beil was in single digits too.

Having been at 9% BF myself, and being a female, I have no reason to question these stats. But they did this within 3 "formal" months (plus whatever they did on their own once they found out they had the role).

I should also mention, neither of them (nor did Dominick who played Drake) maintain this regime beyond the shooting of the movie, and those physiques we see,...like when Ryan is shirtless, and J. Beil's beautiful shoulders in particular,....have ceased to be.....swiftly.

Dunno what this means in terms of what YOU can expect. Just pointing out an example where good genetics, good diet, good training, and a non-compromising sense of dedication produced phenomenal results.

That right there says a great deal. The other three components mean nothing without "non-compromising dedication" to the task of changing ones physique.

If you miss workouts and meals you will never reach the goal of gaining x amount of weight.
