processed foods in general make me feel nasty and sluggish i prefer whole foods and fully reccomend them to replace any processed sugars and starches you may be consuming as they tend to do more harm than good in your body.

Some common causes of Fatigue:
Dehydration
Quality of nutrition
Eating foods that are not easily digested before bed
Not enough sleep
Stress
Anxeity
Use of diuretics, caffeine, alcohol, medications
Depression
Anemiea
Stress and quality of nutrition are two of the biggest factors in fatigue and sleeplesness.
Also how do you define tiredness? Are you consistantly sleepy (falling asleep during the day)? Do you just feel wiped out (Not sleepy but physically drained)?

try eating an apple or raisins, for some reason they regulate blood sugar levels, and it is said one apple can help wake you up better than a cup of coffee.

I find not eating the right foods, or not eating at all makes me tired.
If I'm feeling tired and I go and eat a nice meal I usually wake right up.
I also find processed foods, (white pasta, many cereals, a fair amount of canned food etc) can make me feel drained because I'm basically not getting the nutrients I need.
Look into candida, a lot of people have it, most don't even know they have it, and doctors often misdiagnose it. Eliminate foods that have a lot of yeast and sugar and see if that helps.
Also, look in to getting Solar Ray yeast cleanse and acidophilus, they are good at keeping your yeast levels in check.

I know from personal experience that going without many carbs makes me tired. Like a year ago I did the Atkins diet and felt like complete crap the whole time I was on the diet. It wasn't until I added back healthy carbs like oatmeal and sweet potatoes, etc. that I finally felt less tired and normal again. I lost the weight but much of it was muscle b/c I couldn't workout as hard as I would have if I had carbs in my system.

Sleep in a completely dark room... most people don't realize that having the TV or a lamp on can completely ruin a good 7-9 hours of sleep.

Excellent point. I Forgot about that heh. On that note, alarm clocks can screw you up to. Being suddenly jarred awake from a REM sleep can mess you up for the entire day. Your body is supposed to wake up on it's own with the rise of the sun (Increasing light).
They make these alarm clocks that wake you up by slowly filtering light into you room (called Dawn Simulators) and i tell you they rock. I got one and have felt much better since doing so. They are bit expensive (Mine was about $100) but man are they worth it =)

What about noise.
I have a small space heater/fan in my room, which I turn on at night. It's loud enough to drown out all noises that I may hear. (Except something really loud obviously)
I find that if I turn it off I can hear myself breathing and it keeps me awake, but as soon as I turn the fan on, all I can hear is the consistent droning of the fan, which I kind of block out and ignore, and fall asleep.
Could the noise be messing with my sleep?
P.S. I do have R.E.M sleep, which usually borders on lucid dreaming.

i've also read in quite a few places, and experienced, that any form of "white noise" aids sleep.
I've read a couple of articles here and there stating that white noise helps babies sleep etc.
some examples of things that create white noise are
fans
pc's
radio static
vacuum cleaner
washing machine/dryer.

damn that reminds me of a roommate who couldn't sleep except with the fan turned on (for the sound of it). It would be freezing cold and he had to have the fan on! We shared a room and my bed was close enough to his for me to freeze my ass off.......
