Everyone has muscles in their midsection, but the only way it will show is to get rid of the extra layer hiding it. crunches and all that help strengthen the ab muscles and make them bigger, but without a good diet they'll never show. That's about all I know about abs. I'm trying to get my 6 pack back right now. To get that line at the top of your legs you were talking about you may have to get an 8 pack for it to really stand out.

thats the thing. I know ppl who dont have a six pack at all, but have the lines. O, i got a good example. Ever seen the movie, "Queen of the damned?" The Vampire Lestat has the lines. But he doesn't have a 6 pack, hes just skinny. But i dont wanna be skinny, cuz skinny ppl r weak, lol no offense

I've watched a friend of mine go from a 180 lb chubby kid to a 160 lb solid muscle with the abs and all that. I mean his stomach is cut enough you can see the veins, u know 8 pac that type of ****. Anyway what he did is just a big combination of everything. Like just switch off, he never really has a cemented rutine, some days he'd do weighted exercises, otherdays no wieghts, but always something different. There are a **** load of different ab exercises, so take advantage of all of them. Also my friend eats totally clean during the week but splurges on the weekends, he has a really big sweet tooth and thats been one of his biggest obstacles. The clean and splurging thing may not work for you, I know it doesn't work for everyone.

i think i could do that. Its easier to be clean on the weekdays cuz im ni school all day with no food anyways. But the weekends i wouldnt be able to resist. So do you think i could get ripped abs by eating good on weekdays and binging on weekends???

Basicly you need to increase muscle size to get the six-pack, doing 100 crunches won't help, you should work them like all other muscles, 6-10 reps range to failure for about 4 sets.
now to make them show you'll need to loose body fat, there's no way to reduce fat on a part of your body, doing 100 crunches won't burn fat around you belly, you need to diet and exercise properly to burn fat all over your body, a combination of cardio and weight training (with emphasis on weitght training IMO)works the best.

I would say 4 days of weight training and 2 days of cardio, don't do both at the same day.
you can check out www.bodyforlife.com and follow their routine, it's really good for beginers. You can start by following their plan and then once you get to know your body better and learn more stuff about fitness you can customize it to whatever you want.

I'd probably have a six pack if it weren't for that loose skin

I don't understand how you can have loose skin?

The only time I've seen this happen was on survivor when someone came on that was overweight and since he lost a bunch of weight from starvation.

Basically he had no muscle, and still had fat. Its just that the fat and skin wasn't clinging onto anything and just hanged there.

I've never really had this happen, only thing that I've had is stretch marks, but they eventually go away even though you can see some scar tissue.

I really am a toothpick, maybe that's why, but all the loose skin I have is in my torso, back, stomach, etc. I went from 265 to 178, and lost ALL muscle. The Stretch marks are practically gone, basically unless you can look real close you won't see them and sometimes when I stretch you can

I would suggest just training hard and heavy, eating clean foods as much as possible and training abs at least 3 times per week...even train them first when you are fresh, if they are lagging behind the rest of your body (Priority Principle). Do a variety of exercises for lower, upper and intercostal muscles of the abs...do this and in due time you WILL see your six-pack...but remember, what you eat is the biggest obstacle to SEEING your six-pack!

fat

MgKeeper...I don't think you are looking at the boader picture..it really isn't as easy as doing a few sit ups and doing some cardio and eating right for a week or two.. and there are no magic number for how many hours of cardio you need or how many situps you should do... it's different for everyone...

1) of course you need to lose body fat, but body fat doesn't disapeare from a single location...you lose it all over your body equally... therefore doing situps has nothing to do with reducing the body fat on your midsection

2) dieting is a science, you have to find the right "zone" to lose weight and not destroy valuable muscle tissue which helps burn fat.. this also go's for finding the right patterns to keep your matabolism pumping which burns 60-70% of your daily calories (and you thought those measily 500 calories you burned on the treadmill were alot.. fire up your matabolism and really see the fat fly off you)

3) exercise, well we all know you have to do it..but is working just your abs going to get you that 6 pack the fastest? no way... it's all about total body health... your abs are the center of everything ... to have strong abs you basically also need a strong back and strong legs to certain extents.. the whole body has to work together ...

it's a bigger picture then you think

Miskiw is right. Remember to drink plenty of water. Your body must be flushed of toxins and impurities regularly.
