Isn't powerlifting for people who are kind of overweight?

Powerlifters are concerned mostly with their 1rm in the big 3 (squat, bench, deadlift.) If you want to increase your 1rm in one of those, then it would make sense to use powerlifting methods.

...and does he look overweight to you? Then you have this guy. : Some are pudgy, but its not a requirement by any means.

Oh ok, this is the beginners section, like I was suppose to know. It just seems most powerlifters I know are very very fat. And I don't really understand why overweight people powerlift, when I personally think they should be training to increase there stamina and lift less and more reps.

Didn't mean to be harsh, but it's a common misconception. Most PLs are not fat in actuality. The HUGE guys might look fatter cuz they have tons of muscle, and probably a higher BF yes, but PLing has weight classes just like anything else, they aren't all SHW. For example, I just saw a video of a 132 lb WOMAN bench over 400 lbs. THAT'S powerlifting. She isn't fat

Plus powerlifters eat more calories to build muscle and have energy for heavy lifting.

You need to stop with the stereotypical comments. Just because you are overweight does not mean you are going to automatically lift like a powerlifter lol.

Second, in the off season powerlifters do put on fat because they eat big to make big gains.

Third, usually when a PL meet is approaching, they'll diet down almost to the point of being shredded, some do get shredded.

Fat loss has to do with cardio and diet mostly.

Basically, every football player is a power lifter. Seems to me that there are a lot of football players out there who aren't fat.
