I am underweight, should i worry about eating some fatty substances?

I see alot of people here on this site say do NOT eat more then about 20 percent of fatty foods.. but In my case.. I am a teen.. 18.. and I stay 130 even though , before, I loaded up on high fat content foods and so forth. it seems that genetic wise..just like my uncle , i have gotten a rare case where I wont put on weight... for now..should I worry about eating pizza, choclates? I dont mean all the time..just about once a week..cause I dont know if that would have any affect to my working out. My family habit of eating are really bad and for dinner, sometimes the grease content is a little high. but protein wise, it is high too. so what do you advice I do if this is un avoidable?

First, post all your diet concerns in the Diet and Nutrition forum, it makes it easier to answer your questions. Second, you need to increase your calories if you aren't gaining weight. Most carbs should come from carbs and protein, with about 20% coming from fat.

20% of your diet should be unsaturated fat.

Now if you want to put on weight with "fatty food" you'll get a gut. You have to eat good food, but lots of it. You need to protein for the lean mass, Carbohydrates for your energy. That doesn't mean, burger and fries 3 times a day, everyday. Basically to put on weight, lean mass, you gotta eat eat eat and it can't be slop. It has to be good food, Chicken breast, tuna, pasta, etc.

I agree with the above. If you are looking to put on weight, you need to do it through proper diet and training.

I was in pretty much the same boat you are. I was 6'0" and weighed ~145 pounds, and no matter how much bad/junk food I ate I never put on a pound. Eventually I started eating better and working out, and I managed to put on 15 pounds in the course of two-three months.

Unfortunately, my weight is again frozen, but still that 15 pounds makes me look and feel a lot healthier.

I still occasionally splurge, though, just because I can.
