I need some Creatine info!


I am trying to convince my parents that Creatine is safe and ok for me to start taking and if you guys could give me some links to some good pages that show some creatine studies and other informative material that would be really helpful. I already pulled a bunch of articles off of bodybuilding.com but if I could get some real study info that would be great!

It is safe


Creatine is a natural substance found in the body, in the muscle cells, the liver, brain, and testicles. Creatine is a molecule that suppots ATP. ATP is an energy molecule. WHen you do any quick-burst movements (lifting a weight) ATP is used. When ATP is consumed the P(which is a phosphous molecule) is "popped" off and energy is relesed. Creatine helps to put that P back on the ATP so you have energy to continue to workout. It also causes water retition so it helps gain some weight. If you take it in powder form just take a teaspoon of it with a drink after your workout....by the way how old are you?

just tell them its protein, or give them some jargin about fiteness, thats what i did and im using it now. besides its my choice and im not abusing it. your 15 right? personally, i think you should wait a few more years. im 17 and think its the right time to start using creatine since im almost fully grown.

I talked to my dad last night and here is how it went.

Me: Dad I was wondering if this summer I could take Creatine along with my prot(I didn't even get to finish)

Him: NO! Blah Blah Blah there is not enough long term research it is not worth it you have no idea what this could do to you when you get older not in my house no way no how.

So it looks like just protein for a while folks. BTW I am going to be 17 in October so I am really not THAT young. And I wasn't going to abuse it or anything I WASN"T EVEN GOING TO LOAD! I just wanted to take some creatine. I am really tempted to just take it anyway they would never know, but if by chance they found out I would be dead so I am not sure if it is worth it or not......

when your protien runs out, get yourself 30-40 bucks buy a quality thing of creatine and put it into the protien container. I wouldnt normally advocate going against your parents, but creatine is harmless and you are nearly 17..

Why all the need to use creatine? If ya wanna get big, just eat right and lift a lot. There is no need for supplements.

That's just my feelings on the matter take em or leave em. On another note though...Creatine is seriuosly new stuff. May not seem like it, but sometimes it takes decades for them to see sideffects with this sort of stuff. So it's prolly harmless, but who knows.
