I'm very thin, need bulk, and would like to get started!

hey guys... i need some starter advice from ya'll.. I havent yet gone to any gym till now and thought i should seek some advice... as the place im at.. isnt all dat good in this field.

first my background info:
ppl say that im very very thin [which i think too]. i weigh around 55 kgs. And im 19 yrs old. im jus gotten into mbbs program.
My diet isnt all dat good... primarly cuz of me.. i jus dont "feel" like eating...

here's what i wana do..
1] gain an incredible mass, bulk. I dont have fat at all.. its like no matter how much i eat, i remain skinny.
2] body building: i dont desire to become arnold.. but jus wana look normal..

sometimes, i feel that its not im ma genetic makeup to gain weight/mass/bulk..

i'd really appreciate if u guyz could help me out here... and give me the right start!

thx

Eat, eat, eat, eat and train hard. If your metabolism is fast you will have to eat tons of clean food to gain muscle. Go read the stickys at the top of the Diet & Nutrition page.

Train separate body parts 3 times a week and gradually eat and drink more and you could well break 70kg in 6 months time.

hmmm

piece of advice

dont get too up tight about it at your age. you may train hard, eat heaps etc etc but with a young metabolism if you stop for 2 days you loose it all. you may well put on good weight but odds on long term you cant sustain the eating and exercising required. You wear out your body from too much eating and burnout.

if i was you i would get into the routine of going to the gym, eating well, not expecting the earth or over doing it, enjoy keeping fit, be balanced. Do other exercise - results will come but they may be longer term eg maybe even 10 years when your metabolism slows down a bit. You (or I) will never be able to have a body builders body, so forget being a nazi about it - have fun and embed exercise and diet into who you are and the results will come

Eat organised meals 6 times a day as long as you are in general eating healthy include foods like pizza, burgers etc as you shouldnt have to worry about gaining much fat at this stage. With you metabolism you will probably need about 400cals a day but thats for you to work out.
Training full body workouts will be effective but even if you decide to do a split the key 3 to 4 days a week and that you dont over do it. Training twice as much will not build more muscle

I can give you some tips from someone in the same boat as you. 6'1" and 150lbs forever nomatter what.

When i started my lifting routine i took the high calorie, high protien GNC shakes and did them by the book! I also would eat eat eat, didn't matter if it was healthy or pizza and burger, i just would eat it! Healthy is good, but some fat won't hurt you if your matabolism is like a hamster as mine is.

Anyhow, did the high calorie shakes for 3 months to supplement my calorie intake and protien. Also creatine and eventually N20.

Im pleased to say that since Aug 1 ive put on a solid 10lbs of musle and my strength is a LOT better. I went from a max bench of 140lb, to 230lbs in 5 and a half months with hard work.

I am off the high cal shakes and just drink protien before and after my workouts along with my creatine and N20.

Ive put on enough mass that everyone can tell, and my shirts fit a lot diffy. By the 12 month mark (aug) i think i will be pleased with my first year in.

Good luck, check your progress every 4 or 5 months with lifts. As you get bigger your gonna get stronger too Get some protein too and stick to it the best you can.

Oh, and shop around. Though GNC is nice because they have pretty much all you need in one place they are not always the best price, even if you have a gold card. Thats another thing, GET A GOLD CARD! What I call my "Fat man shakes" (high calorie shakes) are not cheap by any means. I didn't care the brand...i think nore should you at this stage of the game. Buy what you can handle the taste, and the price! The GNC weight gainer is not bad taste at all.
"If" you do the shakes buy the book......i did the 2500 calorie ones........be prepared to shock your system and be in the poddy quite often the first 3 or 4 days after you drink one.......at least i was. Once my system settled down i was fine. Just use your best guess, but try to get in a solid 6-7,000+ calories a day. Thats what it took me. I figured i would rather over do it and get a little fat (never did) than not gain.

ON's has some good shakes also and a good price. You can experiment and make your own too.
I also started with just my upper body for the first few months. I lifted every other day...i did miss a day here and there but not often. After 4 months im not working out more organanized.....chest/Back one day...that sort of thing.

Good luck, i know im enjoying it and seeing results. My goal has been 20lbs of solid muscle in 24 months time and a max bench of 300lbs.
