Increase size of my legs - tips?

I've got really skinny legs and want to know the best way of making them bigger!! At the moment I do some leg curls on a basic machine at the gym but someone mentioned squats and how great they are. How exactly do you do this? I'm a really newbie and don't have a clue. Any help that you can give would be great...

Marty.

Don't bother with the machines - they never seem to do a lot for your legs. It is better to use free weights. Also something simple like jogging does a good job.

Here are some articles that may be of help. Building up to using heavy weights is the best way to gain size. If you decide to incorporate squats in your training, make sure to get your form down with light weights first! Keep the bar over the balls of your feet. Refrain from leaning forward at the bottom of the lift. Drive up trying to push your feet through the floor, keeping the weight centered on the balls of your feet. Good luck.
