Collapsed? What does that mean?
Is he saying you've compressed some disks?
What did your chiro say to do?
The fact that you're moving better now than you were 30 days ago is actually a good sign.
An MRI would be able to show soft tissue involvement as well as boney involvement.
It would be too difficult and risky for anyone to give you ideas or suggestions because you don't know WHAT is wrong or WHAT is causing you pain and WHY you cannot move.
Many different things can cause these symptoms from a herniated disk, to nerve root compression, to bone fragments, to a torn muscle, to muscle spasms,... lots of stuff.
I have a spine injury but know what happened in my case. I've had several episodes where I was in so much pain I literally could not walk, move, it would hurt to breathe, and I couldn't even lift a small pan to boil water... so I am sympathetic to your plight, believe me. Perhaps because of that sympathy, I encourage you to stay in further touch with your chiro, have him order an MRI and consider seeing your PCP for further evaluation.
Some people wouldn't go that route and would suggest you immediately see an orthopedic surgeon or neurologist, or to the ER if you're this bad off, but at the very least your PCP.
I understand your worry about lifting and
muscle loss but if you blow your back out NOW you may never lift again. Don't be so self-indulgent with your lifting and focus on your short term desires without accepting responsibilities for the long term potential ramifications...this is your spine we're talking about....
You'll get back at it when it's safe. Even if you do lose some muscle, better to lose that and gain it back in a few months, than risk it now for the sake of muscle at the cost of your spine.
