I currently have my own Personal Training site via the internet. It does have it's place, but so does hands-on practical experience with a trainer in person. My site is
geared towards people who have been working out for a while and do have some basic knowledge and experience behind them. It allows me to converse with them, answer questions for them that they would othetwise not want to pay $35 per hour to have answered by a
personal trainer when there is no need to go see someone in person to ask some questions.
People who have quick questions they want answered promtply and who want a diet and/or exercise program tailored to their needs without the expense of paying an in-gym personal trainer, then the internet PT is the way to go. Now, if you are a beginner and require hands-on instruction and need certain exercises to be demonstrated, then internet PT's are not for you, and an in-gym trainer is definitely more valuable.
Those are just some of the differences and practicalities between the two....it depends on what you need/want out of it, and what is best for you.
Right now, one of my clients I am training is a 50 year old guy via the internet with diet and training, and things are going great! So internet training is valuable and possible....I wouldn't go so far to say it is the "new way" of training because nothing beats hands on experience and instruction, but for those who have important questions to be answered quickly and need more in-depth instruction, motivation, and guidence, for a fee the fraction of what it would cost to see an in-gym trainer, internet training can't be beat!
