Is it good to walk to and back from the gym?

Hi I was just wondering with all these threads about cardio before and after workouts, is it alright to walk to the gym and back from it, cuz nowadays I walk there now, plus I drink a protein shake and eat a carb meal right before walking to the gym, is this ok?? or does my body end up using that as fuel when I walk there leaving me nothing to workout on at the gym?? it's usually about a 20-30 min walk, and I don't feel tired once I'm at the gym.

Go ahead and walk. The impact on your gains should be minimal. If its possible take your post workout recovery drink with you to the gym and consume it before walking home.

I have the same question, but instead of walking, biking or running?
I was gonna bike or run to the gym this summer, but...haven't decided yet. Is that kind of cardio too intense pe and post workout?

That probably depends on your goals, your cardio fitness level, the distance and difficulty of your path and the intensity of your following workout.

For instance I drive to the gym and get on the treadmill for 5 minutes to bring my HR to over 100 but well under my min CV training target of 142 bpm. If I was to bike to the gym (@10 min mostly downhill) I would skip the cardio and probably the calesthenic routine I do for 5 min as well. If I was doing a leg workout, I don't know if I would want to bike home though.

Now if I walked it I would just drop the 5 min cardio. I would never do this though because I don't have 40-60 minutes to spare for walking on weight training days.

but that is just me. It might be a drop in the bucket for someone else at a different fitness level.
