Is Overtraining bad or good?

Many weight-lifters tell me there is no such thing as overtraining, and that people are too paranoid. And they said even when your body hurts lifting weights is the best thing to do to get stronger. And this is coming from people whos max bench press are about 350 pounds and they weigh like 175-180 pounds.

So, I've been overtraining alot because people at my gym said that overtraining is just for the weak minded who can't deal with the physical pain in the body afterwards.

Apparently there are many weighlifters who don't know what they're talking about.

Tell them to attempt working their chest and triceps every single day for 3 weeks, and see what happens. It involves not giving your body or mind enough time to recover. Some people are too fast to call it, just as some are too fast to call themselves ectomorphs, but it does exist.

Overtraining is generally bad. Overreaching, which is short-term overtraining, is a good tool.

I do somewhat agree that many people are too paranoid about overtraining, but there certainly is such a thing.
