bulknutrition.com has a magazine called "the bull" that i get every once in a while. i dont know if anyone else here gets it. anyways... theres an article by a guy named james edwin about a program that incorporates shaving seconds from your rest periods to pack on mass in which he indirectly coins "the 10 REP 1 SET workout".
in sum, edwin preaches about how shaving seconds of rest in between from a 10-set rep will produce tremendous mass in an 8-week trial. for example... you start off with say bench. you load the bar with iron that you can press for about 4-5 reps with. you do 10 sets of 1 rep with 90 seconds in between until the set is completed. then the following week you do 10 sets of 1 rep with 75 seconds of rest, then 60, then 45, then 30, etc. etc. etc. its packed with lengthy science and sample routines such as this:
SAMPLE CHEST SHAVING SCHEDULE:
workout 1:
incline bench 10x1, 90 seconds rest in between; followed by 3x8-10 incline bench with 60 seconds rest in between; and 3x10-15
dumbell flyes with 60 seconds rest in between.
workout 2: incline bench 10x1, 75 seconds rest in between; followed by hammer strength bench press 3x10-12 with 60 seconds rest in between; and machine flys 3x8-10 with 60 seconds rest in between.
workout 3: incline bench 10x1, 60 seconds rest in between; followed by incline bench 3x12-15 with 60 seconds rest in between; followed by dumbell flyes with 60 seconds rest in between.
... and so on and so forth until after 8-weeks of shaving 15 seconds of rest in between of each workout, you'll be able to do 1 set of 10 reps of the poundage you started with (which you were supposed to only max about 4-5 reps with since week 1.
he seems very passionate about his program, and honestly, i've never heard of anything like it. has anybody encountered anything similar to this before?
ive been bustin my hump to find the full article online but its been to no avail. any replies would be greatly appreciated!
FEEDBACK PLEASE!!!
thanks...
