Knee (ACL) problems and Cardio


Hi Eveybody
Jason Amaro here from New Mexico.... I recently found out that I might have a "loose" ACL... and the Dr. has not decided if I need to have it scoped... anyway... should I keep up my cardio? Any suggestions???

Try rowing or any other exercise that keeps the heart rate up. While traditional aerobics involves the legs, anything that pumps the heart will work.

If you can't row I would cycle instead of running, there are way to many problems that come from running to much. Good luck with the ACL man.

Thanks everybody for all the help... I just need to make sure that this does not slow my progress down.

You may be able to exercise normally with a stretched ACL. Whether you can or not will depend on the severity of the problem, other factors related to your body mechanics, and your choice of activities. Sports that require sudden changes in direction (like tennis) are probably not a good idea but even running might be OK. Ask your orthopedist for his opinion.
