You can use them at the same time, they use different receptors.

Q?

question:
I have never jumped on the glutamine band wagon, but from what I have been recently reading..it seems like a win win situation..so I am going to get on that...but when is the best time to take the suppliment? before workouts or after workouts? ...most places have been saying after workouts.. I know your are supposed to take it throughout the day...but if it reduces the catabolic effect wouldn't taking some before a workout help slowdown the breakdown of muscle even more while hitting my cardio?

oh and also...is there a difference between taking glutamine in powder and pill form besides cost? I personally prefer the ease of pill form than powder...but if it just isn't as good I will use the powder

ok got theroc's opinion. anyone else?

miskiw: i heard the best times to take it is pre workout, post workout, and right before bed. i think the difference in the pill and powder is how fast the absorbtion accurs. hope this helps a lil.

I like to take it in the morning, pre workout , post workout, and before bed.

Get the powder, powder is better.

You can take glutamine in the AM, and even every few hours throughout the day, as glutamine is an amino acid that is constantly being used up and broken down within the body throughout the day, especially if you are an intense lifter! Glutamine is the most required and most used amino acid in the body, so supplement with it liberally. And yes, take a dose right after working out, and also before going to bed, as this is when your muscle tissue needs it most for repair and reconstruction!!!

Glutamine is one of the most overlooked supplements by bodybuilders! It has more beneficial functions than even creatine!

First of all, I believe the consensus is glutamine at wake, pre and post work out. I myself will start using before bedtime to stave off catabolism.
On the creatine and glutamine question, I say by all means. Remember - always consume large amounts of water!
Lastly - I don't know what the actual facts are about glutamine "peptides" other than it referring to protein as a whole. Peptides in reference to L-glutamine is strictly marketing.
