legs

Has anyone heard of 'Medex' training? My gym has this system whereby they tell you to do one set only, to failure, 6-10 reps and the only machines you use are a legpress, chestpress, upright row and two machines where you lie on your side, one works hamstrings and other abs.

I have been doing this, and I'm really afraid of my legs getting too bulky without being cut. I'm pressing 300pounds on the leg press without too much trouble, but I'm scared to increase. I can see my legs getting bigger but not much more defined. I previously thought it was just body fat % and when I lost more, I would be more defined.. but is this thinking correct? I'm not sure that this alone is what creates definition, but a combination of low bf% and high reps with low weight??

Thanks for any advice! My legs are the one part of my body that drive me absolutely crazy, thighs in particular. First place body fat goes and last place it leaves from

I'm 20yo, female, 6ft and haven't weighed myself recently, but can see top two abs and ribs.

Thanks again everyone

The idea of high reps making you look more 'toned' is false, the only thing that will make your hard earned muscle look more defined is a low bf %, so my advice to you is that sounds like a good routine .. so press for all you are worth, when your about ready to show what you have earnt off, go on a cutting diet... you will be pleasently suprised I am sure.

*looks at beer gut*

I can completely understand. I haven't heard of that exact program, but it sounds like the Fudo plan. Lift heavy. Don't lift forever during one workout.

Sounds like you are plenty lean, and the more muscle you get the more likely you are to get those toned looking legs. Luckily women lose fat on their legs last. Men stomach.

Diet and patience is all you need. Half the guys here can't leg press that much, so keep it up.

Thanks for the reassurance guys... I did believe that I was doing the right thing at first but I started to wonder, especially as my gym is the only one I know of in my area that uses this method of training.

Fudo, thanks for the vote of confidence.. PATIENCE is definitely something that I need more of. I'm pretty harsh/critical of myself.. but winning the mental battle is probably just as important as the physically challenging side of working out - if not more so.

Oh and by the way, having looked at your photos.. I'd just like to say... errr WHAT beergut??
