I'm a proponent for liposuction and think that if you make the decision informed and with a full understanding of what it is, and especially what it is not, then many times, it's really the only answer and will give you what no amount of dieting or exercise will ever bring. To deny its place is irresponsible. This doesn't mean, by the way, that one must agree with it or endorse it,... just acknowledge that diet and exercise cannot "fix" everything. Granted, one person's pooch is another's ripple.
That said,... I think someone should get their body to their personal ideal, and maintain that weight and size and LBM for a while first, to truly see what their bodies can accomplish, and what their natural state truly is.
Spot reduction can only be "fixed" or removed with lipo, and if she is happy with where she is, her body as a whole, and has very small amounts of
subcutaneous fat she wants to rid herself of, then maybe, for her, this is the right decision.
It's a
personal choice.
As for being "healthy" -- all surgeries carry with them a risk. That said, one can find reasons to disagree with various forms of exercise too.
I do think first pushing the body to see the maximum natural results, is important, or she'll get lipo, and if her body has not normalized, she may find the lipo "didn't take" and the bodyfat comes right back.
The body also desires to maintain set points and many studies have shown the body will redistribute fat IN those attempts to maintain.
For some people, like men with gyno, or women who have "saddle bags".... no amount of rigid dieting or heavy duty exercising, will correct that.
It's about subtle SCULPTING. It is not about weight loss.
