I think it makes some sense, as far as asking questions that can only be answered by the individual.

At the same time, it wouldn't be as bad if they said "Hello, I am primarily concerned with gaining strength on my 1 rep max, should I do more reps with less weight, or vice versa?"

Asking on several boards isn't always a bad idea, either. Getting a variety of opinions shouldn't be confusing and it shouldn't slow anyone down. Anyone can start up a basic routine, make improvements, and learn as they go. Obsessing over complete perfection before even starting doesn't make any sense.

I like the article. For me, it encourages the idea of taking responsibility for your own training. That goes along with the "leap of faith" and experimentation to find what works.

Internet message boards have their limitations. You have no control over the credibility of those who respond or whether they really understand your needs.

I agree. The big problem is that there are so few absolutes in fitness. You can find credible (and not so credible) arguments on either side of a fitness or nutrition issue. In some cases, both are right. People can argue all day about high volume vs. low volume lifting, high protein vs low protein diets, high intensity vs. low intensity cardio, etc., but in the end, all these methods have allowed people to reach their goals. One way may be better than another, but all of them are better than nothing.

A truer statement I haven't read in a long time.:
