Since I started lifting... (some motivation for the beginners)

Some of the positive results of sticking with it....

Since I started lifting three years ago I've
  • upped my bench by 140 pounds
  • upped my squat by 350 pounds
  • upped my deadlift by 370 pounds
  • been able to do pullups
  • gone from normal dress shirts to ones with a 18 1/2 inch collar
  • outgrown 3 of my sports jackets (parents dislike this one most)
  • gone from 230 pounds at 5'7 to 235 at 6'2 (lowest point being 210 at about 6 feet)

My question is did you bench 130 when you were 12 cause that seems insane to me. Nice job though.

My military press hasn't been a focus but I'd imagine I've put 50 or so pounds onto it.
Now would be a great time for you guys to share your experiences as well. The idea was to show some newbies the benefits of sticking with it, not just to brag (not that bragging bothers me )

Actually I only benched 120 pounds when I was 12. But I weighed 230!

LOL... "only" 120lbs in 7th grade, that's not bad at all Gartrell. I've always thought I had a strong bench, I did 135 in 7th grade at about 150 lbs.

The most I've done was 340 right before my senior year, I weighed about 225. I took basically a year off of benching, but now I'm benching again, I did 255x5 for two sets a few weeks ago, but haven't maxed since.
