Question

Slow Reflex + Diet Question

hey all,

i have been training for about 2 and a 1/2 years and have some good gains (2 stone in weight). but recently i notice my reflex isn't as good as i used to e.g slow punches, kicks etc. i don't do any martial arts but would like to gain my reflex back as well as my strength. does anyone know how to do that?

also, i have a diet question would like to ask: i need to cut down for the summer soon and should i have a low carbs diet? is carbs a better energy fuel than fats? or the other way round? if i need to cut down carbs then where do i get the energy from?

thanks,
Michael

i dont think training cuts down reflex times. Look at boxers.

Train for quickness by doing explosive resistance training for the specific muscles that contribute to to the target motion. Powerful and explosive punching, for example can be enhanced by applying resistance (via bands, perhaps) to midsection rotation as you actually perform the 'punch'.

I recall reading a quality article in MuscleMedia (a couple of years ago) about Evander Holyfield and his training methods. Try some Googling.

edit :: All I found was this: http://www.musclemedia.com/articles/v100/real_deal.asp
