Suppliment/Fat burning question?

Thanks in advance for any answers to my question. I'm 6'1", 235lbs and while I have some fat to burn, I'm naturally thick. Big arms & legs. I'm looking to start a well rounded workout and burn some fat. Besides the cardio exercise, is there any fat burning dietary suppliments out there that really work? If so, can anyone give a recommendation and where to buy?

Thanks!

the only way to burn fat is to eat less calories so you need to work out your diet first.

Supps such as ephedrine, caffeine, green tea etc boost your metabolism so you burn more calories and thus can lose more fat.

I wouldn't worry about supplements at this point. Keep it simple.

Body Fat

Cursor,
I am a 31 yr old female just starting out..of course a mans bodyfat might be different than a womans, but how do you get your body fat down that low?
Ive been eating alot of protein, low carbs and low fat diet and doing cardio 3X per week and weights twice a week...will this give me the defined results?
Thanks!

Hi Suzy. I'm not cursor, but I'll chime in anyway. It sounds like you are off to a good start, but if you'll provide us more detail about your diet and exercise routine, we'd be happy to help you tweak it.

I agree with F-mac. Don't take any supplements yet. You will need a sensible eating plan, some cardiovascular exercise and a good resistance training (weight lifting or bodyweight) routine to get the results you are looking for.

Body Fat %

Hi all,
Thanks for your response. As far as my diet goes...i eat fish, chicken, some beans, drink green tea, oatmeal for breakfast or a protein drink here and there. I am staying away from red meat...and i take a multivitamin and vitamin C in the morning...i also eat just a little an hour before i go work out. I do treadmill for 30 minutes, then go to my weight lifting routine three days a week...should i work harder as i go? My big question is this...."SHould i do cardio to loose weight first, then lift weights to get my muscles lean and defined? I dont want big bulky muscles. any help is appreciated!

Switch those around. Why? Because your muscles need glycogen for lifting heavy things. For cardio, your body will burn glycogen first then fat. SO depleate the glycogen with weights first then burn fat with cardio.

YOU WILL NOT GET BULKY. Total myth. Females have a tough enough time building muscle without a lot of testosterone.

Detail out what you eat, how much you eat and when and where the workout is between which meals. This will give us a better idea of what you are doing.

You did not mention any fruits or vegatables at all. They are very important.

Yeah, im eating fruits and veggies too. I will turn my routine around and do weights first , then cardio. Ive only been at this for a week so far...and im really trying to stick with it. I would love to loose my bellyfat. Im 31, 5'10", and 180 pounds. So i need to loose some weight, but my goal is to get in the best possible shape of my life. Thanks for all the advice so far.
