Unhappy

Well what can i say, iam desperate.

First of all i would like to say HI to everyone on this forum and i hope they can help me out.

Well what i need is advice , maybe some help to form a work out plan or something that would work out my whole body , give me more stamina and also something to increase my muscle size and flaten my abs. There are so many different work outs but i just wanted to know whitch is the best? whitch produces the best results the fastest. Ok now a little about myself , well i just turned 18 and i was always the type sitting home doing nothing being lazy , and now i finaly have the long lost confidence and just the need to do something with my body, i need to get fit for the last year of school, with the prom coming up i dont want to be the one going alone . So yeah i just wana do the best i can to get into the best shape of my life, il do what ever it takes. I would really apriciate if you guys could help me out, if you know of any work out plans and also what kind of diets should be going on ? If you have any questions about what ever is needed for a specifc work out plan let me know.

Thanks in advance for any replyes. :

I'll offer you just one tip about your abs.

Many people try to flatten their abs by doing sit-ups, crunches, leg lifts all that. Well thats not going to help unless you have decreased the fat in your abdominals through cardio.

So to flatten your abs, hit the treadmill first, or else the muscle you create is going to grow under the existing fat and create the opposite effect you desire.

not to mention that abs are largely made in the kitchen - you can cardio till you drop, but if you're eating too much and the wrong stuff, you're not going to get those abs.

start by cleaning up your diet - get rid of the crap, no need for me to tell you, you know what it is: greasy, brightly artificially-coloured, heavily salted or very sweet, made with white flour and white sugar.

sign up at www.fitday.com and start tracking what you're eating - to start, you should aim for a 40%-40%-20% protein/carb/fat split of your calories. go no less than 1500 cal/day if you're female, 1800/day if you're male or you'll sabotage your efforts.

get your ass in gear - do something every day: walk briskly (you're going to an appointment but you'll be on time if you don't slow down or even you're critically late and need to get there NOW); run; jog; treadmill; stairclimber; swim; rock climb; drag sled; walk a really fast, really big, really undisciplined dog; rollerblade; skateboard; play soccer; take up martial arts; etc, etc etc. there are so many alternatives that "boredom" is just a cheap cop-out.

you WILL have to strength train - you want to preserve your existing muscle and you want to grow new muscle to help you burn off calories.

Wow , thanks guy this is great advice. I just recently started running and hiking also swimming. I will be getting a gym pass very soon. I was just wondering would you recomend using any suplements ? like protein powder or stuff like that. I know i should keep a diet but i just dont know what exatly to eat so it would be healthy, is there a website that tells you all that you can eat and what you should stay away from ?

abs-olutely! try www.discussfitness.com, lol.

read posts by cursor and ladyC - cursor also has sample diets you can follow.

really, though, just look at it: if it looks like food ("meat", "fruit", "dairy", "grains") and isn't covered in anything powdery or oozy, it's good to eat. ie, bologna - look at it and identify what meat cut it is. can't do it? it's junk. sliced turkey breast: there's the meat = not junk.

Please note that during this site transition period (ownership change from Geoff to Andy) many links that use the [url] tag will not work. If you find any such links, please PM me directly and I will fix them.

I have fixed all of the links in the Some links & helpful tips reference above.
