What do you wear for the gym? (underwear)

I'm a 20 year old male

Straight to the point: I wear baggy boxers for the gym (running and weights) which seems to have been causing me problems (discomfort down below). What should I be wearing and what do you wear as underwear for the gym?

Thanks

lol, buy the 3, 5 or even 7 underwear briefs packs and use them. Unless you want to spend more money on the sports underwear.

i wear jockeys, snug ones like underarmor. I'm sure more than one guy here can sympathize with busting a seam on a pair of inflexible boxers during a deep squat.

Boxer briefs are the way to go. Takes a little getting used to if you're used to the baggy boxers but they're much better for exercise. You could also go with brand name sport specific underwear but boxer boxer briefs are close enough to them at a fraction of the price.

My only problem with boxer briefs is that they are generally cheaper for a reason. They usually only have elasticity around the waist and thighs, not through the entire piece of underwear. I've also found that the elasticity doesn't last like a sports specific underwear.

I love the boxer briefs...good support all the time and comfortable. But i agree that the elasticity never lasts, usually only out of the wash does the elasticity work but after wearing them for 10 minutes they relax, and eventually don't really work much. I wear shorts that are made to stretch a bit in the material...helps keep from busting a seam in a squat like Mav mentioned.

That's very true about the elasticity but they're cheap for a reason lol! Buy them on sale and they'll be even cheaper. I just cant get my mind around the idea of buying expensive underwear. I would only buy the sport specific underwear if I was training outdoors in the elements where "element specific" training underwear to handle the heat and cold such as Under Armour would be really beneficial.

On my budget the choice is between baggy boxers, boxer briefs and tighty whities. I haven't worn tighty whities since I was a kid so I cant really vouch for them. I used to train with baggy boxers and baggy basketball shorts thinking this would be the most comfortable option. I was wrong, especially when it comes to cardio. So that leaves boxer briefs as the viable cheapo option.

When pushing iron i wear normal boxers but when cycling or running i wear supportive briefs as when the brussels swing for to long you can get bag ache.
Also when cycling it stops your old chap popping out of yr leg to say hi
