well gettin some supply of protien for the night before bed, is definately optimal... but I would drink a protien shake, unless you really have to.
1.
protien shakes are absorbed alot faster, which is only short term supply, meaning youre gonna need more protien for the rest of your sleep. So it would be better to eat whole foods which are slow absorbing which will last longer, like milk, nuts, cottage cheese.
2. you will save money not wasting your protien shakes... there are a nutritional supplement, but I think the purpose of them was to use before and after workouts. maybe one during the day on off days.
as for the fat dude... I dont have a clue. Id say as long as your not stuffing down a bunch of carbs before bed you are fine.
