I would like to do weight training x3 a week plus running x3 a week and I exercise one day on one day off. What would be the best way to do this plus have enough energy for my running. Should I mix the two or separate them. e.g. Sunday I like to do a long run (well 5 miles), then what should I do Tues/Thurs/Saturday to get the most out of my workouts. I want to seriously tone up more. I love running but feel my weight workouts then wont get a look in.

I personally like full body workouts (rotating the number of sets and reps from high to low.)
If you do both running and weights in the same workout - ALWAYS do the running last. This ensures you have enough energy for the weights and burn fat in the running.
I used to do full body sessions but that was before I started to run. I don't like to do legs the day before running as they are quite sore afterwards and my legs feel heavy. Also running seems to give you bigger thighs (I have read) not sure if this has happened so don't want to bulk them up any. Full body workouts are usually about 45 mins or so and if I was throwing in running afterwards I would probably be there for around 75 mins. I would like to finish in about an hour??
my best friend yesterday said the same thing, because he ran track in H.S. and he just feels running keeps him healthy, and he said running is all I he needs to do for his legs, theyre pretty big, but then he rolled up his shorts and his legs looked like mine! skinny as hell.

TOTAL MYTH! with your quads being one of the largest muscles you should make sure you weight train them just like any other muscle. Growing and maintaining muscle as you age should be key to staying lean.
thats called denial... but if you really dont wanna do leg work and suffer a loss of results, then thats what you will do.<--- thats called being stubborn, we all do it, especially me.
