Midgetcop's Power Oatmeal
This is my favourite way to eat oatmeal - actually, the *only* way I can eat oatmeal because otherwise it tastes like crap. Lots of energy/calories in this one, so try and keep the portion small....
- 1 cup of oatmeal of your choice
- 1 or 2 diced strawberries (yum!)
- 1 tablespoon of honey/maple syrup (or sweetener of your choice)
- 1 tablespoon of crushed flaxseeds/flaxseed oil
- 1-2 tablespoon of skim or 1% milk
and MOST important:
- 1 tablespoon of peanut butter (no, seriously! It is AWESOME!!)
This is the concoction that gets me going every morning. It's a less greasy version of the egg-breakfast, and it's packed full of energy.

Midgetcop............that looks really good! Would go nicely alongside a few boiled eggs.
Lately i've been too lazy to do anythign with my oatmeal, thus it has been oats + a few raisins + water. Not much for taste but it gets the job done.
One method of preparation that i've done in the past that tasted awesome was:
1 cup oats
1 cup water
1 appple (cored and chopped into small cubes)
1-2 tbsp raisins
cinnamon
small amount of milk (varies due to personal taste).
Put the oats, water, and half of the chopped apples in a bowl and microwave it, this will cook the oats, and make the apples soft. Then mix in the other half of the apple, raisins, cinnamon, and milk.
It's damn good also!

Been Brainstorming a little. How about :
1 c. oats
1 packet Carnation instant breakfast (Provides sweetness, a little protein, lots of vitamins. Regular is sweetened with maltodextrine, can use sugar free if you want.)
1 scoop whey (provides some more sweetness, and duh, protein)
2 tablespoons peanut butter (Protein, good fat, especially if you use omega 3 peanut butter)
2 tablespoons wheat germ (a little protein, more fiber!)
.5 cup milk (protein, moisture)
Fruit to taste, if you want.
Makes two servings.

Wow this looks great! Usually I eat a healthy cereal but always wanted to try oatmeal but it was always so plain...Do you have any idea of the calorie content?
Thanks!

Most people here at DF use natural peanut butter. Myself, I only use Peter Pan...it's the creamiest. If I can't find it, then I go with JIf.
...hey, got to enjoy SOMETHING while here. I still haven't tried it in oatmeal yet.

I use natural pb, because the regular stuff is made with hydrogenated oils (in other words, trans fats) and sugar. Natural pb tastes better, IMO, because it doesn't have sugar added.
