My opinions may seem like that, but I came into this world neutral, as we all did. All my opinions about life were non-biased. My opinions on pork were molded from the events that happened around me. I have an aquaintance who happens to be a doctor, who on a regular basis gets patients who come in complaining about feeling pain in the gastro intestional area. They are suffering from the effects of worms in pork, so these events are not isolated to singapore.

and i know a LOT of women who smoked and/or drank heavily during pregnancy and gave birth to perfectly healthy, bouncing babies of normal or above- normal weight.
doesn't mean i'm going to run around saying "it's perfectly harmless, go ahead, it does no harm at all to the baby".
the bottom line is, you can't base information on strictly empirical evidence - you have to look at statistics and research to get the full, complete picture.
in singapore, fine - from what i've read, asia is rife with parasites of all kinds largely because of the number of ppl living in poor and squalid conditions. but in north america, parasites are not universal.

but what is "healthy"? my older daughter was a failure to thrive - she hated eating, refused to eat, even as an infant. she was born weighing 8lbs 14oz - at one year, she weighed 16lbs. she should've doubled her weight at 5 months. at a year and a half, she weighed 18lbs. she was three years old before she tripled her birth weight, which should've happened at one year. early tests said she would be at least 5'10", taking after her 6'6" father - but her full adult height stopped short because of the malnutrition.
for her, eating "healthy" as we traditionally define it, would've killed her. she NEEDED everything to be deep-fried, whipping cream instead of milk in her cereal, and milkshakes i concocted containing everything but the kitchen sink - and if it was made of iron, i'd've put that in too: whipping cream, premium ice cream, premium yoghurt, fresh fruit, olive oil, tofu, caseinate, and a can of Ensure (meal-replacement) all went into her shakes to the tune of nearly a thousand calories per serving and still she only gained 200 grams every month.

This is no longer entertaining... bobjenkins is quite an obnoxious individual.
The very second you start using the bible as your source of reasoning I close my eyes and ears... and I am a Roman Catholic. What works for you may or may not work for someone else so to talk in absolutes is ignorant...
Oh and also... I like pork

the bible says not to consume pork
Is this quote true or not?
Merely saying "the bible says not to consume pork" is pointing out a fact. There is nothing wrong with that, seeing as my religion does support the bible and its views, your choosing to be offended. Once again not my problem. Eating pork and getting trichinosis is not my problem either. In time we will find out where eating pork leads us, either good or bad.
good day, and shall you all be fortunate in your travels

but the error was in the cooking. had it been cooked properly, you wouldn't have caught the parasite. furthermore, i doubt they actually said it was from a meal of uncooked pork unless you had zero exposure to cats your entire life.

oh please, that is the most ridiculous reasoning i've ever heard. I'm sure the farmers are saying "oh, since all pork is infested with bacteria and parasites, let's just give them a discount, eh?". The price has everything to do with economics and trade policy and nothing to do with it being "ridden with parasites". Anyways, it says less-expensive, not least expensive. Japan is the largest fish consuming country in the world, fish ain't cheap especially now because we're fishing the oceans empty. Japan makes arguably the best quality beef on the planet, but land is at a ridiculous premium in a country with 125 million people living on an island the size of california, so homegrown beef as well as many other livestock ain't cheap, because the land they live in isn't cheap. So they import meat, of all kinds, which will be less expensive.
once again, your argument has absolutely no substance
and the bible was written 2000 years ago, times have changed

I haven't had antibiotics since I was a child and I don't get flu shots. My immune system is in great shape and I give it practise by regularly eating "those 10 things" in moderation.
Use it or lose it.
In your situation, yes you needed to clean up your act for the sake of your children's health but, "there is no reason to throw the baby out with the bath water."

that's an *excellent* point: apparently, the proliferation of antiseptic/antibacterial/anti-everything cleaners and the discouraging of children to play with animals and in the dirt is making kids get sicker - their immune systems don't develop properly because it's not stimulated adequately.

I should point out that I do get "sick" for 24-48 hours every couple of winters. Once every 7-10 years I get a real doozy, one that would last for 3 weeks if I tried to fight it and be superwoman or 1 week if I just say say to the world f**kit, make your own meals I wanna rest.

You better watch out for those M&Ms ... they're made by "the white man".
You rate popcorn in your top-10 list, yet recommend shying away from wheat because it'll "turn to sugar"? Ummm ...

I'd suggest that you be more selective in picking your reading material (or in deciding what part of it to believe). Your view on the dangers of pork is seriously blown out of proportion.
