Back in my Frat Boy prime I could drink 14+ beers/night and still be coherent. Now that I'm a "grown up" (wieght unchanged at 200lbs) 4 beers over the course of the night and I'm still a little under the influence.
What physiologically happens when one builds up a tolerance to alcohol?

Good question. I notice my tolerance can change by the activities I've done during the day. If I run I'll get a slight "buzz" off of one drink, and will usually stop at around 4 or 5. Where as if I've been sitting on my but all day I can drink a hell of a lot more, and it takes longer to feel it!
It's just your normal body tolerances taking affect. :
Think about it like a diet pill. I realize it's a comparison of opposites here, but bare with me here. Your body gets used to functioning with it present so it develops a tolerance. Gradually over time, the effects of it lessen and lessen until a point where when you try and go without it, you have withdrawls. Same type of deal.
