Probably a marketing scheme set up by the pb industry. there is nothing wrong with it but eating it isnt going to solve all your weight loss problems.

"Anyone see any truth to this"?

I guess it all depends on what you mean by 'this'. There are many true statements in that article but what do you think they mean?

What do you think that article says?

Well, yes and no. The factual claims are all fairly solid. The fats in natural peanut butters do tend to be healthier poly and monounsaturates and fat in general does tend to satiate hunger.

But yeah, the whole 'lose weight and never get hungry!!!' undertone is just snake oil.

i understand the deficit part and gettin the right nutrients in your body.
What I meant by the question was, do you think if PB could ENHANCE the process of fat loss?

to ENHANCE means to give it a LIIIITLE more extra boost ASSUMING your diet, cardio and lifting are followed to the best of your ability.

Drinking more water, getting your EFA's and other points give you a push with your efforts to loose fat, just wantd to know what you think of PB in this situation.

thanks everyone

I agree with the article personally. The only problem I see is with how they refer to the "skippy" diet. Skippy, Jif and like peanut butters all use trans fats, which defeat the benefits of the whole idea. If we were to use only natural PB (which most here do) then yes, it's very plausible.

No, I don't think it will ENHANCE or BOOST your fat loss. I would stick to your current diet and exercise routine and just make sure you have enough EFAs included.

Hi! My name is Gilogy... and I'm addicted to peanut butter.

My concentration the past year was to reduce my weight. I found it interesting that anytime I allowed peanut butter into my diet, it halted all weight loss progress. Once the peanut butter was gone, my weight loss resumed. So I'll disagree with the statement.

On the other hand, looking at the sample menu they listed, I'm guessing the total calories to be about 1500, which may be low enough to promote weight loss.

There's nothing inherently wrong with clean peanut butters but when it comes to fat loss my thinking is the risks outweight whatever specific benefits there might be.

Are people really going to exercise portion control or will they just eyeball a 'serving'?

Are they really going to put that peanut butter on a rice cracker (or some similarly low-cal vehicle)?

Are they really going to limit themselves to 4-6 tablespoons per day?

Are they really going to offset those additional 400-600 calories by cutting somewhere else?

I dunno, I don't see most people going that way.

This sounds a lot more like the kind of half-true thing a lot of people will just morph into a rationalization for slacking.

Sort of like the way they'll think 'welllllll, the human body NEEDS a certain amount of fat to function normally' while ordering fries.

sometimes these "medical" researches really piss me off.

Other than bodybuilding, if we look at the physiques and eating habits of the 50's and 60's where people in pictures were GENERALLY slimmer, they ate moderatly and had an active lifestyle, and the MOST important fact:
THEY AVOIDED PROCESSED FOODS!

How much food can a lot of us have in our fridges which is processed?
