Apples

I like them, they taste good, and I don't mind eating them. However, they have a tendancy of making me sick to my stomach. Any possible reasons?

I could be wrong but, depending on how many you eat, it could be the fiber in them. There is alot of fiber which will clean out your system. I use to have that problem when I ate apples all the time, now my system is use to it.

3-4 odd grams of fiber shouldn't be making me sick, I get way more than that from other fruits and veggies w/ no trouble. Apples are the only fruit I can think of that has this effect on me.

I usually only eat one with a meal, if I'm eating them at all.

It is the citric acid. Do you eat them alone or with something? I can't eat them alone they will give me a belly ache. Try eating them with cottage cheese or boiled eggs.

apples are high on the list of foods ppl are generally intolerant to - it's why they recommend limiting the amount of apple juice given to kids. for many, it's a difficult protein to digest.

I usually eat them with a full meal. A meal to me usually consists of 5-7oz of meat + a source of carbs and fats.

The only food I ever eat by itself is natural peanut butter, and that is usually before bed when I'm trying to stick w/ protein, fat, and veggies.

That's pretty wild. Does it happen with any kind of apple or do you react more strongly to certain varieties?

For me some varities are worse. Green Granny Smith first thing in the morning will send me into instant stomach cramps.

hm... the granny smith is a mutated crabapple, one apple notorious for causing intestinal distress.

I usually buy fuji apples. I can live w/ it, just seems weird. Are crab apples the small sour ones?
