Back to dieting... need ideas for movie snacks
So I have no problem eating healthy; however, I am a big movie buff and its so hard not to get something at the theater.
Anyone have good ideas for movie snacks they like to bring with them?

i usually take a protein/energy bar. mine taste like candy bars! or how about a snickers marathon bar...not totaly bad for you but tastes good enough to feel like you are getting a treat.
i also used to snack on sugar free gummy bears (there was an old thread around here talking about what is actually in those things but i choose to ignore that!)

LOL ....I'm telling
That's a tough one. Usually I say just make better "bad" food decisions (sorta' on the same lines as gymgirl). Also, getting satiated before the movie can help with munchies (i.e. take down a protein shake and a full glass of water THEN make your food choice).
Low sodium salsa with blue chips
Cut up melons
Powr crunch bars are my favorite for this year ....for bars that are better than most out there. AND they taste like those little debbie nutty bars.
Assorted nuts
etc.

cursor, you are "hardcore"
I usually take some of my 85% cocoa dark chocolate to the movies.
I used to buy big bags of sweets at the pic n'mix counter, I mean like probably 1000calories worth of sweets (they add up pretty quickly when you want some of everything) but that was a long time ago.
However, when i went to the movies in boston with BF we go to the place where they have refills on the large popcorn Last time we got through two larges, and im sure i ate at least one of those myself. I'll probably do that again sometime.. that will be a day off from fitday !!

Nothing goes with the movies like popcorn. Good complex carb, plenty of fiber. Just skip the butter and you're in business. I'd say air pop it, but seems like you can hardly find the stuff any more.

I love air-popped popcorn; it just tastes so much better than oil popped. It's hard to sneak into the theater, though, a bag of it is so big.
What do you mean when you say you can't find it? You mean the popcorn itself or the popper? Or do you mean actually buying air-popped popcorn? I don't know where to buy it, but I make it at home all the time.
How about dried fruit? That's easy to sneak in.

Trail mix, protein bars, fruit, diet soda, lowfat cheese, even a protein shake should be do-able. I bought my gf one of those large leather purses for Xmas for this very reason.....lol.
I sneak TONS of food in with me. Twice i've had people try to kick me out of the theatres for blatantly walking in with "outside food". The first time I said if they can show me one healthy thing at the snack bar I would be more than happy to buy it........after a bit of arguing they let me in.
For everyone, I would just say bring whatever you want into the theatre......if they give you any hassle just tell them to go **** themselves. :

Dried fruit is a good idea too.
I guess when I said I have trouble finding air popped popcorn I was thinking about the hot air popper. I haven't seen one in a while but have been too lazy to look very hard. I also asked at Safeway for the old stovetop ones that come in the aluminum pan with the handle, but they didn't carry them any more. It's all microwave stuff now.

I bought mine at Meijer a few years ago. It's just the kind that plugs into an outlet, nothing that goes on the stove. It was nice to have in the dorms when I was a student.
