Best Fast Food Options


Take a look at my list and add/delete anything. I know fast food is bad but there are times when my friends, girlfriend, coworkers, etc get fast food and I'm stuck having to get it too. So I'm trying to pick as best as I can for anytime these situations arise. Here goes:

Wendy's: Small Chili
Burger King: Not really sure, need help with that one
McDonalds: Fruit n' Yogurt Parfait
KFC: KFC Snacker with no mayo?
Taco Bell: Bean Burritto?
Subway: I know they have a few options but which ones stand out as the best?
Random Pizza Place: Not really sure, need help with that one
Chinese Food: Pt. of Chicken Noodle Soup

if you're trying to bulk then don't worry if you're having an unhealthy meal once in a while, as long as its not that frequent. therefore i would say just take adantage of whichever one is the most nutrient-dense.

Maurer hit on a good point, "if you're trying to bulk."

What are your goals? Cutting? Bulking?

Any fast-food mexican place, I think bean burritos are the best.

At Subway, I usually get wheat bread, but honey-oat bread gives you more fiber. Get lean meat. I usually get the Club, but chicken breast or turkey are always good options. Have them load it up with good veggies.

At McDonalds, you can always get a salad too. Many fast-food places now have salads. I stay away from everything else at McDonalds. Oh how I miss those quarter pounders with cheese though!!

I stay away from chili because most people or places make do not make it with lean beef. They usually get the fat-laden beef.

You must have missed my pizza post. Get a small thin crust veggie pizza with little or no cheese and get ham on it for protein. Thin crust reduces the calories dramatically.

Chinese buffets always have a salad bar and the one I go to also has grilled chicken. Their soup will have an awful lot of sodium in it, but that doesn't mean you can't have any. Just make an adequate allowance for sodium in your overall intake for the day.

There are usually pretty healthy options where-ever you go. You just have to look for them. But I grant you, some places just won't have any decent options.

I'm cutting, definately cutting. I have one all you can eat cheat meal per week.

As far as Subway goes, which bread is the best? I'm pretty sure the wheat isn't real whole wheat. I couldn't imagine trying to eat clean at any buffet. I'd just have to make that my cheat meal.

Get the grilled chicken sandwich/burger at most fast food places like McDonalds or Burger King. Throw away the bun and you've got yourself a good source of protein man.

Not true man. Buffets are where I eat the cleanest. I just have to make sure and not eat too much. I feast at Golden Corral. I eat very clean there. I can even eat clean at a chinese resteraunt buffet. There are plenty of choices. You just have to make the right ones.

Like Ed said, you can make pizza healthy by being specific. Lots of places even have chicken now, so if you don't like ham, just go for that. Todd's advice is the best about burger places- just get a grilled chicken sandwich and don't eat the bun.

the chili at wendy's is fairly healthy, the small one has only 6g fat and almost 17g protein. If i'm trying to go healthy, i'll get the homestyle grilled chicken with chili instead of fries and an iced tea. pretty decent meal for fast food. i always get the honey oat at subway, turkey and ham is good or chicken breast/teryaki whatever. Lot of salt but then that's almost impossible to avoid with fast food.

go to calorieking.com to find nutrition facts/deterrents for cravings. Sometimes i'm just craving like a DQ blizzard, then i go to the site and see that a small has like 70g of sugar, and that kills that idea pretty quick, lol.

Wow, I can't believe you posted that. Awesome...a low carb post from a real bodybuilder, instead of just from lil ole me.

Add a salad and you will be good to go. You should listen to Todd's nutrition advice, it's helped me a great deal.

Also, if it's a cheat meal...did you know that McDonalds will give you a wheat bun? Sure it's not 100% whole wheat, but about 1/2 of the flour is wheat and 1/2 is refined. Better than 100% refined. Arbys does have some decent breads too. Subway has the same kind of arrangement for their wheat bread. Still a better choice than plain white bread.

Someone told me once that blimpies has 100% whole wheat. I haven't verified this though, because the people at the closest blimpies are the ones from the group home who weren't smart enough to become cops...they don't really know what's in the food they sell.
