Yes, Maxgain pretty much summed it up pretty well with the above statement.
Whey protein will get absorbed by your system the fastest out of any protein, and provide your muscles with the amino acids they need in order to immediately replenish, and begin the recovery (and growth) process.
The simple sugars (dextrose and/or maltodextrin), will replenish your depleted carb (energy) stores and allow for greater uptake of other nutrients into the muscle cells. This is the optimal meal for immediate post-workout.
Also, don't forget to drink plenty of water with your post-
workout meal(s).
